Paul Hines (racing Driver)
Paul Hines (born 3 December 1980) is a BriSCA Formula 1 Stock Cars racing driver from Hinckley, Leicestershire who races under number 259. Biography Hines first started racing in V8 Hotstox. He switched to BriSCA F1 in 2002, debuting in a borrowed car at Skegness Stadium on 14 July. He bought his first car to race the following season, and worked his way through the grades to finish 18th in the National Points Championship. His first major championship success came in 2005, when he won the European Championship at Northampton. He won the British Championship at Skegness in 2010. In 2011, he won a World Championship Semi-Final at Belle Vue and started the World Championship Final at Northampton from pole position. He finished the World Final in fourth place. Hinckley
Hinckley is a market town in south-west Leicestershire, England. It is administered by Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council. Hinckley is the third largest settlement in the administrative county of Leicestershire, after Leicester and Loughborough. BriSCA Formula 1 Stock Cars is a class of single-seater stock-car-racing in the UK with custom-built cars, with races conducted on walled oval tracks of either shale or tarmac of approximately a quarter-mile in length. The cars are of an open wheel design. The cars may be of any horsepower and drivers can use any engine they choose, with Chevrolet based small or big block V8 engines being the most popular. The season runs from March through to November, with occasional meetings during Christmas time. V8 Hotstox is a British stock car racing formula that races on British short oval racing circuits. Drivers are members of the British Stock Car Drivers Association (BSCDA) and are affiliated to the British Stock Car Racing Association (BriSCA). Skegness Stadium
Skegness Stadium is a short tarmac oval racing circuit used for stock car, banger racing and former greyhound racing and speedway stadium on Marsh Lane in Orby, Skegness, Lincolnshire. located just outside Skegness. It hosts British stock car racing throughout the year, alongside special events such as truck racing, stunt shows, firework displays and caravan racing. BriSCA Formula 1 Stock Cars World Championship
The World Championship is an annual competition started in 1955 for BriSCA Formula 1 Stock Cars. It is the premier championship of the formula and the winner is granted the honour of racing with a gold roof and wing until the next World Final, and if desired they can race under number 1. Qualification The World Final is usually held in September. The host tracks, all of which are based in the UK, are decided by the BriSCA promoters. The grid for the World Final is mostly composed of drivers from the UK who are chosen through a series of qualifying rounds and two World Championship Semi-Finals. Drivers who fail to progress from the World Semi-Finals may race again in a Consolation Semi-Final to choose two more entrants, and the reigning World Champion is entitled to start at the rear of the grid if they have not already qualified. ''Gears and Tears'' is a British television documentary series about stock car racing, which originally aired on BBC One in 2010. Synopsis ''Gears and Tears'' follows the story behind a BriSCA Formula One Stock Car Racing season, particularly a bitter battle between two dominant clans in the sport: the Wainmans from Yorkshire and the Smiths from Lancashire. Although the Wainmans and the Smiths are the central characters, other drivers who appear in the series include Nuneaton-based father and son Rob and Chris Cowley (race number 73 and 37 respectively), and Leicestershire double glazing company manager Paul Hines (race number 259). John Lund (racing Driver)
John Lund (born 12 January 1954) is a BriSCA Formula 1 Stock Cars racing driver from Rimington, Lancashire who races under number 53. Lund is one of the most successful stock car drivers of all time and holds the current record for the most World Championship wins. Biography Lund started racing in 1976, debuting at Rochdale on 28 March. He progressed to star grade in 1977, and to superstar in 1981. In 1985, Lund started racing two cars, one for shale ovals, one for tarmac. This helped catapult him to the very top of the sport. In 1987 Lund won his first major title, the British Championship. He completed a sweep of the top three major championships when he won the World Championship at Belle Vue Stadium and the National Points Championship in the same year, the third person to achieve this feat.
