Patsy Gormley
Patrick James Gormley (8th December 1932 – 25 August 2022) was a Gaelic footballer from Northern Ireland. At club level he played with Claudy and was also a member of the Derry senior football team. Gormley usually lined out as a goalkeeper. Career Gormley first played Gaelic football when he made the school's team as a 14-year-old, before later lining out at adult level with the Claudy club. He first appeared on the inter-county scene with Derry as a member of the minor team in 1952. Gormley claimed his first inter-county silverware when he won an Ulster JFC medal in 1955. This success earned him an immediate call-up to the senior team. Gormley, having earlier won Dr McKenna Cup and Ulster SFC medals, lined out in goal when Derry were beaten by Dublin in the 1958 All-Ireland final. John Mitchel's GAC Claudy
John Mitchel's GAC Claudy ( ga, CLG Seán Uí Mhisteil Clóidigh) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Claudy, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. The club is a member of Derry GAA and currently caters for Gaelic football. The club is named after Irish patriot and revolutionary John Mitchel, as is that in Glenullin in the same county. John Mitchel's Claudy GAC is the oldest club in County Londonderry and celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2013. Claudy fields boys' and girls' football teams at Under-6, U-8 and U-10; boys'/men's teams at U-12, U-14, U-16, Minor, Reserve and Senior levels; and ladies teams at Under-12, U-14, U-16 and Senior levels. The Dr McKenna Cup is an annual Gaelic football competition played between Counties of Ireland, counties and List of universities in Northern Ireland, universities in the province of Ulster GAA, Ulster. The 1958 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was won by Dublin, who beat Derry in the final. The championship, the premier competition in Gaelic football, is a series of games organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association and played during the summer and early autumn. Wrexham Maelor Hospital
The Wrexham Maelor Hospital ( cy, Ysbyty Maelor Wrecsam) is a district general hospital for the north east region of Wales. It is managed by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. History The hospital has its origins in the Wrexham Union Workhouse which was completed in 1838. In the late 19th century a large new infirmary was built to the west of the workhouse building and a fever hospital was created to the west of the infirmary. A home for the elderly and infirm, intended to replace the workhouse, was opened on the site by David Lloyd George MP as "Plas Maelor" in 1934. (Maelor was a cantref of the Kingdom of Powys). The facility served as an emergency military hospital during the Second World War and then joined the National Health Service as Maelor General Hospital in 1948. Ulster Senior Football Championship
The Ulster Senior Football Championship is an inter-county competition for Gaelic football teams in the province of Ulster. It is organised by the Ulster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) and begins in early May. The final is usually played on the third Sunday in July. All nine Ulster counties participate. It is regarded as hardest to win of the four provincial football championships. At a referee conference in January 2015, David Coldrick said about officiating in the competition: "Ulster makes or breaks you. It can be a graveyard. The games are different. The 1955 All-Ireland Junior Hurling Championship was the 34th staging of the All-Ireland Junior Championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1912. Kerry entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were beaten by Cork in the Munster semi-final.
