Patrick Moran (musician)
Patrick Moran (born June 7, 1975) is a professional fiddler born in Pouch Cove, Newfoundland, Canada. Moran began playing the fiddle in 1982 as a student of fiddle player Kelly Russell. Moran ’s Sliabh Luachra style, nimble versatility and strong understanding of contemporary and traditional melodies has made him a highly respected studio fiddler throughout Canada. Moran has collaborated with a number of well-known Newfoundland musicians at sessions, folk festivals, and concerts. He has performed throughout North America and Ireland with many prominent artists in traditional Irish and Newfoundland music, including Séamus Creagh, The Chieftains, Paddy Keenan, Ryan's Fancy, The Sons of Erin and he has appeared at 25 consecutive Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Festivals. Pouch Cove
Pouch Cove is a town in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The population is 2,063 according to the Canada 2021 Census. It is located on the northeast Avalon Peninsula, 27 kilometres north of St. John's, the province's capital city. The origin of Pouch Cove dates back to 1611, when fisherman from British ships, together with carpenters and other artisans, established a settlement. The town was officially incorporated in 1970. The post office was established in 1975. The Town has a Council consisting of a Mayor, Deputy Mayor, and five councillors. Jim Fidler
Jim Fidler (born in the 1960s in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania) is a singer, producer, and musician living in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. Biography In the 1960s, Jim and his mother relocated to Newfoundland where he grew up in the diverse Rabbittown section of St. John's. As a youth, Fidler spent a great deal of time along Conception Bay, where he developed an appreciation for Newfoundland's music and culture. Fidler's family found that, as a child, he frequently picked up instruments and mastered them with ease. Blind since age 9, he continued to develop his talents. By the age of 10, he had formed his own band with friends. He attended school in Halifax, where he continued his musical studies and eventually earned a degree in classical piano and music theory at the Maritime Conservatory of Music in Halifax. ''The Telegram'' is a daily newspaper published weekdays and Saturdays (as ''The Weekend Telegram'') in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. History ''The Evening Telegram'' was first published on April 3, 1879 by William James Herder. It adopted its current name in 1998, although it was also briefly published under this name in 1881. Herder and his descendants owned and published ''The Evening Telegram'' until it was sold to Thomson Newspapers (now Thomson Corporation) in 1970, and continued as publishers until the departure of Stephen R.
