Patrick Moran (Irish Republican)
Patrick Moran (14 March 1888 – 14 March 1921) was a grocer's assistant, trade unionist and member of the Irish Republican Army executed in Mountjoy Prison along with five other men on 14 March 1921. He is one of those who were dubbed "The Forgotten Ten". Background Moran was born in Crossna, Ardcarn, County Roscommon. He was the third of eleven children of Bartholemew and Brigid Moran, and attended primary school in Crossna before going to work as a grocer's assistant in Boyle. Patrick Moran (born June 7, 1975) is a professional fiddler born in Pouch Cove, Newfoundland, Canada. Moran began playing the fiddle in 1982 as a student of fiddle player Kelly Russell. Moran ’s Sliabh Luachra style, nimble versatility and strong understanding of contemporary and traditional melodies has made him a highly respected studio fiddler throughout Canada. Moran has collaborated with a number of well-known Newfoundland musicians at sessions, folk festivals, and concerts. He has performed throughout North America and Ireland with many prominent artists in traditional Irish and Newfoundland music, including Séamus Creagh, The Chieftains, Paddy Keenan, Ryan's Fancy, The Sons of Erin and he has appeared at 25 consecutive Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Festivals. Patrick Francis Cardinal Moran (16 September 183016 August 1911) was the third Roman Catholic Archbishop of Sydney and the first cardinal appointed from Australia. Early life Moran was born at Leighlinbridge, County Carlow, Ireland, on 16 September 1830. His parents were Patrick and Alicia Cullen Moran. Of his three sisters, two became nuns, one of whom died nursing cholera patients. Accessed 6 November 2014 His parents died by the time he was 11 years old. In 1842, at the age of twelve, he left Ireland in the company of his uncle, Paul Cullen, rector of the Irish College in Rome. Pat Moran
Patrick Joseph Moran (February 7, 1876 – March 7, 1924) was an American professional baseball player and manager. He was a catcher in Major League Baseball from 1901 to 1914. The year after his retirement, he became a manager, and he led two teams to their first-ever modern-era National League championships: the 1915 Philadelphia Phillies and the 1919 Cincinnati Reds. Moran was the first manager to win National League pennants with two different teams. Moran's 1919 Reds also captured their first World Series championship. Playing career A native of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, Moran played 819 games over 14 National League seasons for the Boston Beaneaters (1901–05), Chicago Cubs (1906–09) and Phillies (1910–14). Pat Moran McCoy
Pat Moran (born 1934 in Enid, Oklahoma) is an American jazz pianist. Life and work Born Helen Mudgett, Pat Moran studied piano at Phillips University and later at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. Career She began her career as a concert pianist but eventually moved on to jazz. She founded the Pat Moran Quartet, which later became the Pat Moran Trio, and played New York's Hickory House, the Birdland and the ''Blue Note'' concerts in Chicago. In subsequent iterations of her band, Moran performed with singer Beverly Kelly, bassist John Doling, and drummer John Whited. In the mid-1950s, she released two albums for Bethlehem Records. In April 1957, Moran's quartet performed at Birdland, accompanied by a brass section, with arrangements by Nat Pierce. Moran later released two more albums for the Audio Fidelity label: ''Beverly Kelly Sings with the Pat Moran Trio'' and the Trio album ''This Is Pat Moran'' with Scott LaFaro on bass and Gene Gammage on drums.
