Patrick Hogan (Australian Politician)
Patrick Hogan (1 January 1835 – 2 September 1918) was an Irish-born Australian politician. He was born in Blackfort in County Tipperary to farmer Michael Hogan and Mary Fitzgerald. Educated locally, he migrated to New South Wales in 1861 and became a policeman. In 1863 he married Bridget Kelly, with whom he had six children. He worked as a commercial agent in the timber business, and was also an alderman and mayor at Waterloo. He was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Assembly in 1885 as the member for Richmond. He did not contest the 1887 election, but was returned in 1889 as the member for Macleay, representing the Protectionist Party. Patrick Hogan (10 October 1885 – 24 January 1969) was an Irish Labour Party politician who served as Ceann Comhairle of Dáil Éireann from 1951 to 1967 and Leas-Cheann Comhairle of Dáil Éireann from 1927 to 1928, 1932 to 1938 and 1948 to 1951. He served as a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Clare constituency from 1923 to 1938 and 1943 to 1969. He was a Senator for the Labour Panel from 1938 to 1943. Patrick James Hogan (30 May 1891 – 14 July 1936) was an Irish Fine Gael politician who served Minister for Agriculture from 1922 to 1924 and 1930 to 1932, Minister for Agriculture and Lands from 1924 to 1930 and Minister for Labour from July 1922 to October 1922. He served as a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Galway constituency from 1921 to 1936. Sir Patrick Hogan (23 October 1939 – 6 January 2023) was a New Zealand breeder of Thoroughbred racehorses, based in Cambridge. He was closely associated with the champion sires Sir Tristram and Zabeel. Early life and family Hogan was born in Rotorua on 23 October 1939. His mother was Sarah Margaret Hogan ( Small), and his father was Thomas (Tom) Hogan who emigrated from Ballindooley, County Galway, Ireland, in 1914 at the age of 19. He received his education at Hautapu Primary and St. Patrick's College, Silverstream. In 1962, he married Justine Alice Heath, the daughter of William and Phyllis Heath. They have had two daughters.
