Patrick Galbraith (ice Hockey)
Patrick Galbraith (born March 11, 1986) is a Danish professional ice hockey goaltender. Gailbraith currently plays under contract with SønderjyskE in the Danish Metal Ligaen (DEN). Playing career Galbraith spent the 2006-07 campaign with EJHL outfit New Hampshire Junior Monarchs. In his native Denmark, he played for Vojens IK. Earlier in his career, he spent time with Swedish sides IK Oskarshamn, Frölunda HC, Leksands IF and IF Björklöven, had a short stint with HC Slovan Bratislava in Slovakia and was a member of the Espoo Blues in Finland. Galbraith played for Karlskrona HK in the HockeyAllsvenskan since 2013 before moving to Krefeld in December 2015, After his first full season with the Pinguines in 2016–17, he appeared in 45 games but was unable to prevent the team from finishing last. Espoo Blues
The Espoo Blues were an ice hockey team in the SM-liiga. They played in Espoo, Finland, at the Espoo Metro Areena. The club went bankrupt at the end of the 2015–16 Liiga season. History The club was established in February 1984 as Kiekko-Espoo and played their first season in 1984–85 in the Finnish Second Division. In 1988, they achieved promotion to the Finnish First Division and in 1992, they celebrated their promotion to the SM-liiga by beating Joensuun Kiekkopojat with a 3–2 series win in a best-of-five format. Tero Lehterä scored the winning goal and Jere Lehtinen assisted. Kiekko-Espoo ended its first two seasons in SM-liiga in 11th place out of 12 teams. In the 1994–95 season, the team made the playoffs for the first time, losing to Lukko in quarter-finals. Leksands IF
Leksands Idrottsförening is a Swedish ice hockey team from the town of Leksand in the region of Dalarna. The team plays in the top-tier league, SHL, after succeeding through the 2019 SHL qualifiers and thus earning promotion to the SHL. The club's home arena is Tegera Arena, which seats 7,650 spectators. History The club was formed on 13 August 1919, originally playing bandy and ski competitions. In 1920 they also took up football. The first hockey game was played in 1938, when they beat Mora IK 11–0, and this sport is now the only sport the club competes in. Despite the fact that the town of Leksand only has 6,000 inhabitants, Leksands IF is one of the most popular teams in Sweden, and the team averages over 4,000 spectators per game in their home arena despite playing in the second tier. George Galbraith
George Galbraith (born December 16, 1955) is a Canadian-born Danish former professional ice hockey goaltender who was nicknamed King George by Danish media and fans. Galbraith played his entire 19-year career for Vojens IK (1977-2001), was named the Danish League Player of the Year in 1980, and holds the record as the oldest player to play in the Danish premiere league at age 46. Galbraith's dominance in goal is credited with leading Vojens to their first Danish championship in 1979. He played at the World Championships with Denmark men's national ice hockey team in 1986 and 1994. In 2017, Galbraith was inducted into the Danish Hockey Hall of Fame. Galbraith was raised in Petawawa, Ontario and attended Clarkson University on a hockey scholarship from 1972 to 1976. His mother is of Native American descent. The Danish national men's ice hockey team is the national ice hockey team for Denmark. The team is controlled by Danmarks Ishockey Union. It was founded in 1949, and as of 2022, the Danish team was ranked 10th in the IIHF World Rankings. Denmark currently has 4,255 players (0.07% of its population). Their coach is Danish Heinz Ehlers who replaced Janne Karlsson.
