Espoo Blues
The Espoo Blues were an ice hockey team in the SM-liiga. They played in Espoo, Finland, at the Espoo Metro Areena. The club went bankrupt at the end of the 2015–16 Liiga season. History The club was established in February 1984 as Kiekko-Espoo and played their first season in 1984–85 in the Finnish Second Division. In 1988, they achieved promotion to the Finnish First Division and in 1992, they celebrated their promotion to the SM-liiga by beating Joensuun Kiekkopojat with a 3–2 series win in a best-of-five format. Tero Lehterä scored the winning goal and Jere Lehtinen assisted. Kiekko-Espoo ended its first two seasons in SM-liiga in 11th place out of 12 teams. In the 1994–95 season, the team made the playoffs for the first time, losing to Lukko in quarter-finals. Espoo
Espoo (, ; sv, Esbo) is a city and municipality in the region of Uusimaa in the Republic of Finland. Jokerit
Helsingin Jokerit (English: Jokers or Jesters) are a professional ice hockey team based in Helsinki, Finland. The team won six league championships as a member of the Finnish SM-liiga (1973, 1992, 1994, 1996, 1997, and 2002). Jokerit plays its home games at Helsinki Halli. The team was a part of the Bobrov Division of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) Western Conference from the 2014–15 season, making Finland the first Nordic country to have a team in the league. On February 24, 2022, Jokerit announced it would withdraw from the 2022 KHL playoffs due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Scott Brower
Scott Brower (September 26, 1964 – October 21, 1998) was an American professional ice hockey goaltender. Early career Brower was drafted by the New York Rangers in the 12th round (243rd overall) in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft. As a member of the North Dakota Fighting Sioux, he was a backup to future NHL All-Star Ed Belfour. Professional career Brower was drafted with the 243rd overall pick by the New York Rangers in the 12th round of the 1984 NHL Entry Draft. Timo Blomqvist
Timo Pauli Blomqvist (born January 23, 1961) is a Finnish former ice hockey player. As a youth, he played in the 1973 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a minor ice hockey team from Espoo. Drafted in 1980 by the Washington Capitals, Blomqvist also played briefly for the New Jersey Devils before he returned to play hockey in Europe. Frank Banham (born April 14, 1975) is a Canadian-born Hungarian former professional ice hockey winger who last played for Hungarian club, SAPA Fehérvár AV19 in the Austrian Hockey League (EBEL). Playing career Initially drafted 147th overall by the Washington Capitals in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft, Banham played 27 regular season games in the NHL for the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim scoring 9 goals and 2 assists for 11 points and 5 games for the Phoenix Coyotes, scoring no points and collecting 2 penalty minutes. Tyler Lawrence Arnason (born March 16, 1979) is an American former professional ice hockey center who played in the National Hockey League for the Chicago Blackhawks, Ottawa Senators and the Colorado Avalanche. Early life He is the son of former NHL winger Chuck Arnason, and was born in Oklahoma City, when his father was a member of the Oklahoma City Stars of the Central Hockey League (CHL). As a result, Arnason holds dual citizenship to both the United States and Canada. Arnason and his family moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba following the end of his father's career. He attended St. John's-Ravenscourt School, graduating in 1997. Arnason is the brother of Canadian actress and screenwriter Aubrey Arnason. The Aaro Kivilinna Memorial Trophy is an award given every year since 1973 to the best ice hockey club overall in Finland by the Finnish SM-liiga. The recipient is determined by the final standings of each club in the SM-liiga or Mestis as well as their teams in the three topmost junior leagues and the women's league. The Lahti Pelicans are a Finnish professional ice hockey team playing in the Liiga. Founded in 1996, they play in the city of Lahti at Isku Arena. Porin Ässät (; Finnish for ''Pori Aces'' or ''Aces of Pori'') is a professional ice hockey club based in the town of Pori, Finland. They play in the Finnish elite league, Liiga.
