Patrick Faber (politician)
Patrick Jason Faber (born 21 March 1978) is a Belizean politician. He was the Leader of the Opposition (Belize), Leader of the Opposition. He formerly served as Politics of Belize, Minister of Education, Youth Sports and Culture. In July 2020 he was appointed the leader of the United Democratic Party (Belize), United Democratic Party, after Prime Minister Dean Barrow stated his plans to retire at the end of his term. Early life and education Faber was born in Belize City, Belize. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics in 1998 from Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Georgia, as well as a Master's degree, Master's in Educational Leadership from the University of North Florida in 2003. He is currently working on a Doctor of Public Administration degree from Valdosta State University. Belize City, Belize
Belize City is the largest city in Belize and was once the capital of the former British Honduras. According to the 2010 census, Belize City has a population of 57,169 people in 16,162 households. It is at the mouth of the Haulover Creek, which is a distributary of the Belize River. The Belize River empties into the Caribbean Sea from Belize City on the Philip Goldson Highway on the coast of the Caribbean. The city is the country's principal port and its financial and industrial hub. Cruise ships drop anchor outside the port and are tendered by local citizens. Sir Colville Norbert Young (born 20 November 1932) is a Belizeans, Belizean politician who served as the 2nd Governor-General of Belize. He is also a patron of the Scouting, Scout Association of Belize. He was appointed as the Governor-General in 1993, taking office on 17 November of that year, and was knighted in 1994. The House of Representatives of Belize is one of two chambers of the National Assembly, the other being the Senate. It was created under the 1981 constitution. Members are commonly called "Area Representatives." Area Representatives are elected by winning a majority of votes in their respective constituencies under the first-past-the-post system.
