Patrice De Corsi
Patrice de Corsi (15 September 1824 – 13 October 1888) was a French magistrate and politician. Early years Patrice de Corsi was born on 15 September 1824 in Talasani, Corsica. He was among the Corsicans who were active in the Revolution of 1848. In 1860 Corsi was a young advocate. He was engaged in an electoral campaign in the canton of Pero-Casevecchio, where there had long been a feud between the Corsi and Renucci families. During the evening of 13 June 1860, after dark, Corsi and two friends encountered a group of about 15 supporters of Antoine Renucci. A stone was thrown and Corsi fell unconscious. He revived in time to see one of his friends, Filippi "Prete-Vecchio", being shot dead. At the subsequent trial the wrong man was convicted and served three years of a 20 year sentence before the error was discovered and the true culprit was assigned to the galleys, where he died. Hippolyte Carnot
Lazare Hippolyte Carnot (6 October 1801, Saint-Omer – 16 March 1888) was a French politician. He was the younger brother of the founder of thermodynamics Sadi Carnot and the second son of the revolutionary politician and general Lazare Nicolas Marguerite Carnot, who also served in the government of Napoleon, as well as the father of French president Marie François Sadi Carnot. Early life Hippolyte Carnot was born at Saint-Omer, Pas-de-Calais. After the final defeat of Napoleon in 1815, his father went into exile. Hippolyte Carnot lived at first in exile with his father, returning to France only in 1823. Unable to enter active political life, he turned to literature and philosophy, publishing in 1828 a collection of ''Chants helléniens'' translated from the German of Wilhelm Müller, and in 1830 an ''Exposé de la doctrine Saint-Simonienne'', and collaborating in the Saint-Simonian journal ''Le Producteur''. François Morelli
François Morelli (28 February 1833 – 29 May 1892) was a French shipowner and politician. For a while he ran a shipping service in the western Mediterranean based in Marseille, but it suffered from severe competition and several business mishaps. After he was elected senator his business declined further, and then was declared bankrupt. He died in office shortly after its assets were sold at auction. Early years François Morelli was born on 28 February 1833 in Bocognano, Corsica. He came from a Bocognano family that had caused Napoleon some trouble in 1793. His parents both worked on the land. He gained a secondary education, then was employed by various businesses in Corsica. In 1869 Morelli became special railway commissioner in Nice. Talasani
Talasani () is a rural commune and village on the eastern seaboard of Corsica. It in the Haute-Corse department of France. The area has very low population density and is mainly forests and farmland. Vincent-Marie Farinole
Vincent-Marie Farinole (1 September 1832 – 16 September 1905) was a French advocate who was Senator of Corsica from 1894 to 1903. Early years (1832–70) Vincent-Marie Farinole was born on 1 September 1832 in Sigean, Aude. His parents were Joseph Farinole( fr) (1792–1887) and Philippine Benoîte Mathieu. He came from an old Coriscan family with several members who were notable before the French Revolution. He attended a Jesuit school for a classical education, then went on the Lycée Charlemagne and the Lycée Saint-Louis in Paris. He studied law at the University of Aix-en-Provence, then after obtaining his license enrolled as an advocate at the Bar of Bastia in 1856, where he pleaded until 1870. He married around 1865 and had a daughter, Magdeleine Juliette Louise Clélie Farinole (1872–1946). Eugène Rouher
Eugène Rouher (30 November 18143 February 1884) was a French statesman of the Second Empire. He was born at Riom (Puy-de-Dôme), where he practised law after taking his degree in Paris in 1835. In 1846 he sought election to the Chamber of Deputies as an official candidate of the Guizot ministry. It was only after the Revolution of 1848, however, that he became deputy for the department of Puy-de-Dôme. Re-elected to the Legislative Chamber in 1849 he succeeded Odilon Barrot as minister of justice, with the additional office of keeper of the seals (20 December 1848 to 26 October 1851 and 3 December 1851 to 22 January 1852). From the tribune of the Chamber he described the revolution of February as a "catastrophe," and he supported reactionary legislation, notably the bill (31 May 1850) for the limitation of the suffrage. Bastia
Bastia (, , , ; co, Bastìa ) is a commune in the department of Haute-Corse, Corsica, France. It is located in the northeast of the island of Corsica at the base of Cap Corse.
