François Pitti-Ferrandi (1838-1894)
François-Marie Pitti-Ferrandi (22 February 1838 – 9 March 1894) was a French doctor and politician who was briefly Senator for Corsica. Early years François Pitti-Ferrandi was born on 22 February 1838 in Pietra-di-Verde, Corsica. He attended the ''lycée'' of Bastia for his secondary education. He studied medicine at the Faculty of Paris, then returned to Bastia to practice his profession at the ''lycée''. Politics Pitti-Ferrandi's family had been involved in politics, and he became a municipal councillor in Bastia. He then represented the canton of Corte, where he had been born, in the general council of Corsica, where he replaced one of his brothers. In 1885 another of his brothers took his seat in the general council, while he became general councilor for his wife's canton of Muro. Adolphe Landry
Michel Auguste Adolphe Landry (29 September 1874 – 30 August 1956) was a French demographer and politician. He was deputy and then senator for Corsica between 1910 and 1955. He was Minister of the Navy from 1920 to 1921, Minister of Public Education for two days in June 1924 and Minister of Labor and Social Security from 1931 to 1932. He was the author of several books on economics and demographics. He saw that countries like France had moved from an age of high birth rates and high mortality, with the size of the population determined by the amount of food available, through a transition period to an age of low birth rates and long lives. The population might actually shrink unless the government took steps to encourage larger families.
