Pat Ferschweiler
Pat Ferschweiler (born February 20, 1970) is an American ice hockey coach and former player. He is currently the head coach for the Western Michigan Broncos. Playing career Ferschweiler began his collegiate career with the Western Michigan Broncos in 1990, having previously played for the Rochester Mustangs of the USHL. He had a strong first season with the Broncos, registering 20 points in 42 games during the 1990-91 season. The following season was a successful one for Ferschweiler, as he was named the Best Defensive Forward in the CCHA, despite scoring at over a point-per-game rate. He returned for his third year with the Broncos and was named team captain; during the 1992-93 season he tallied 35 points in 38 games. and was a runner up for the Best Defensive Forward award. Roanoke Express
The Roanoke Express were a professional minor league ice hockey team in the ECHL from 1993 until 2004. Home games were played at the Roanoke Civic Center in Roanoke, Virginia. The Express were owned by legendary coach John Brophy and the Hampton Roads Admirals. History Roanoke Valley's first minor league ice hockey team, called the Salem Rebels, played its inaugural season at the Salem Civic Center in the 1967–1968 season with Jim Jago as team captain. The first season had some sparse crowds of less than 1,000 in the 4,848-seat arena. Over the next few years, the team developed a fanbase and a number of games were sold out. United States Hockey League
The United States Hockey League (USHL) is the top junior ice hockey league sanctioned by USA Hockey. The league consists of 16 active teams located in the midwestern United States, for players between the ages of 16 and 21. The USHL is strictly amateur, allowing former players to compete in National Collegiate Athletic Association, NCAA college hockey. The Chicago Steel won the Anderson Cup as the 2020–21 regular season champions and the 2021 Clark Cup, Clark Cup playoff championship; both were their second in franchise history. Operations The USHL is the country's top sanctioned junior hockey league, classified as Tier I. Brendan Yarema
Brendan Yarema (born July 16, 1976) is a Canadian retired professional ice hockey centre who played in North American minor leagues and throughout Europe. Career Yarema played junior hockey for the Newmarket Royals of the OHL starting in the 1993–94 season. Following the culmination of the season, the team was sold to the Ciccarelli brothers and moved to Sarnia, becoming the Sarnia Sting. Yarema would play for the Sting for two further seasons before turning professional. Yarema began his professional career in 1996 when he joined the ECHL's South Carolina Stingrays, for whom he played 12 regular season games, as well as a further 9 in the playoffs, helping the Stingrays to win the Kelly Cup. Ice Hockey Superleague
The British Ice Hockey Superleague (BISL, also known as the Sekonda Ice Hockey Superleague from 1998 to 1999 for sponsorship reasons) was a professional ice hockey league in the United Kingdom between 1996 and 2003. Devised in 1995, it replaced the premier division of the British Hockey League at the end of 1995–1996 season; following the major reshuffle of the league and the split between the first and second tier divisions; with the British National League becoming the new second tier division. Long Beach Ice Dogs
The Long Beach Ice Dogs were an American professional ice hockey team based in Long Beach, California at the Long Beach Sports Arena. They played until the end of the 2006–07 ECHL season. History The Ice Dogs trace their origins to the San Diego Gulls, a team in the now-defunct International Hockey League (IHL), that began play in 1990. In 1995, the team moved north to become the Los Angeles Ice Dogs. Due to poor attendance at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena, the team was on the move again after just one season, this time to Long Beach, California, where it retained the "Ice Dogs" name and played at the Long Beach Sports Arena. Jeff Madill
Jeff Madill (born June 21, 1965) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey right winger. He was drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the 1987 NHL Supplemental Draft, and played 14 games for them during the 1990–91 season. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1987 to 1997, was spent in the American Hockey League and International Hockey League. Biography Madill was born in Oshawa, Ontario. As a youth, he played in the 1978 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a minor ice hockey team from Oshawa. After playing three seasons with the Ohio State Buckeyes, Madill made his professional debut with the Utica Devils of the American Hockey League in 1987–88. Utah Grizzlies (1995–2005)
The Utah Grizzlies were an ice hockey team in the International Hockey League (IHL) and American Hockey League (AHL). They originally played at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, before relocating to the E Center in the Salt Lake City suburb of West Valley City in 1997. After the 2004–05 season, the franchise was suspended. It was sold in 2006 and moved to Cleveland where it returned to play in 2007 as the Lake Erie Monsters. A new Utah Grizzlies franchise in the ECHL began play in 2005. The International Hockey League (IHL) was a minor professional ice hockey league in the United States and Canada that operated from 1945 to 2001. ECHL
The ECHL (formerly the East Coast Hockey League) is a mid-level professional ice hockey league based in Shrewsbury, New Jersey, with teams scattered across the United States and Canada. It is a tier below the American Hockey League (AHL). The ECHL and the AHL are the only minor leagues recognized by the collective bargaining agreement between the National Hockey League (NHL) and the National Hockey League Players' Association, meaning any player signed to an entry-level NHL contract and designated for assignment must report to a club in either the ECHL or the AHL.
