Pat Farrell
Patrick Farrell is an Irish businessman and a former chief executive of the Irish Banking Federation. Career Farrell has been Head of Marketing and Communications and General Manager retail operations at EBS Building Society, Chief Executive at Galway's Galvia Private Hospital and General Manager at Sligo Regional Hospital. He is Chairman of Sightsavers International (Ireland) and is a board member of FOLD Ireland. Farrell was appointed as Head of Group Corporate Communications and Government Relations at Bank of Ireland in May 2013. He retired in March 2019. Farrell was the chief executive of the Irish Banking Federation. He was appointed in January 2004. Irish Banking Federation
The Banking and Payments Federation Ireland (BPFI) is the main representative body for the banking and financial services sector in Ireland. The BPFI was formed in 2014 from the merger of the Irish Payment Services Organisation with the Irish Banking Federation (IBF). Its predecessor, the Irish Banking Federation, was founded in 1973 upon Ireland's accession to the European Communities. The IBF in turn succeeded the Irish Banks Standing Committee established upon independence in 1922. Former Fianna Fáil Senator and Party General Secretary Pat Farrell is the chief executive. ''Fianna'' ( , ; singular ''Fian''; gd, Fèinne ) were small warrior-hunter bands in Gaelic Ireland during the Iron Age and early Middle Ages. A ''fian'' was made up of freeborn young males, often aristocrats, "who had left fosterage but had not yet inherited the property needed to settle down as full landowning members of the ''túath''". The post-2008 Irish economic downturn in the Republic of Ireland, coincided with a series of banking scandals, followed the 1990s and 2000s Celtic Tiger period of rapid real economic growth fuelled by foreign direct investment, a subsequent property bubble which rendered the real economy uncompetitive, and an expansion in bank lending in the early 2000s. EBS Building Society
EBS d.a.c. is a small financial institution in Ireland registered as a designated activity company. In June 2022, the Irish government's Central Bank of Ireland reprimanded and fined EBS d.a.c. trading as EBS €13.4m for a series of significant and long-running failings in the treatment of its mortgage customers, between August 2004 and June 2020. As a result of this investigation alone, the EBS has admitted to 36 separate regulatory breaches. Albert Martin Reynolds (3 November 1932 – 21 August 2014) was an Irish Fianna Fáil politician who served as Taoiseach from 1992 to 1994, Leader of Fianna Fáil from 1992 to 1994, Minister for Finance from 1988 to 1991, Minister for Industry and Commerce from 1987 to 1988, Minister for Industry and Energy from March 1982 to December 1982, Minister for Transport from 1980 to 1981 and Minister for Posts and Telegraphs from 1979 to 1981. The Taoiseach is the head of government, or prime minister, of Republic of Ireland, Ireland. The office is appointed by the president of Ireland upon the nomination of Dáil Éireann (the lower house of the Oireachtas, Ireland's national legislature) and the office-holder must retain the support of a majority in the Dáil to remain in office.
