The Party for Democracy and Progress (french: Parti pour la Démocratie et le Progrès, PDP) is a political party in Mali led by Mady Konaté. History The party was established in 1991, and officially registered on 25 April that year. It party received 5.1% of the vote in the February 1992 parliamentary elections, winning two seats. In the April 1992 presidential elections it nominated Idrissa Traoré as its candidate. Traoré finished fifth out of nine candidates with 7.1%^ of the vote.Elections in Mali

Malian Parliamentary Election, 1992
Parliamentary elections were held in Mali on 23 February 1992 and 8 March 1992, the first after the March 1991 military coup that overthrew President Moussa Traoré. Following the coup, the Comité Transitoire de Salut du Peuple (CTSP) was created to manage the democratic transition. This body established a transitional government headed by Amadou Toumani Touré, the leader of the military group responsible for overthrowing Traoré. The transitional government oversaw a constitutional referendum and municipal elections in January 1992, the parliamentary elections in February and March, and the April 1992 presidential elections. In the parliamentary elections, voters elected 129 members of the National Assembly. The result was a victory for the Alliance for Democracy in Mali (ADEMA-PASJ), which won 76 of the 129 seats. Presidential elections were held in Mali on 12 April 1992, with a second round on 26 April. They were the first presidential elections in the country to feature more than one candidate following the reintroduction of multi-party democracy after a coup the previous year. The coup had followed a student protest in March 1991 during which troops defending President Moussa Traoré fired and killed numerous protesters. Parliamentary elections were held in Mali on 20 July 1997, with a second round on 3 August. They followed the April elections, which had been annulled by the Constitutional Court due to "serious irregularities". The result was a victory for the Alliance for Democracy in Mali, which won 128 of the 147 seats elected in the country, a further 13 being elected by Malians living abroad. Presidential elections were held in Mali on 28 April 2002, with a run-off on 12 May. The previous president, Alpha Oumar Konaré, stood down after 10 years in office, having been term limited by the Malian constitution to two terms.
