Paro is a village located in Paro District, Nduga Regency, Highland Papua, Indonesia. The village is a site where Nduga hostage crisis took place. History In 2011, Paro was separated from Mapenduma District and joined to a newly established Paro District. On 7 February 2023, West Papua National Liberation Army (TPNPB) burned a Pilatus PC-6 (PK-BVY) operated by Susi Air at the airstrip and abducted the pilot. The Indonesian National Armed Forces captured the village and district from TPNPB hands on 13 February 2023. Nduga Regency
Nduga Regency is one of the regencies (''kabupaten'') in the Indonesian province of Highland Papua. Nduga Regency was separated from Jayawijaya Regency on 4 January 2008 in accordance with Law No. 6/2008. It covers an area of 12,941 km2, and had a population of 79,053 at the 2010 Census and 106,533 at the 2020 Census. The administrative centre is at Kenyam. Kenyam
Kenyam is a town and district in Nduga Regency, Highland Papua, Indonesia. It is the capital of the regency. Its population as at mid 2022 was 6,394. History On 31 December 2015, President Joko Widodo, accompanied by First Lady Iriana, visited Kenyam, Nduga Regency, Papua Province, to review the construction of the road that will connect Nduga and Wamena. PT ASI Pudjiastuti Aviation, operating as Susi Air, is a scheduled and charter airline based in Pangandaran, West Java, Indonesia. The Pilatus PC-6 Porter is a single-engined STOL utility aircraft designed by Pilatus Aircraft of Switzerland. First flown in 1959, the PC-6 was produced at Pilatus Flugzeugwerke in Stans, Switzerland. The Nduga hostage crisis began on 7 February 2023 when Free Papua Movement ( id, Organisasi Papua Merdeka, OPM) insurgents attacked a plane and took its pilot and all five passengers hostage.
