Parkside is a suburb of Mount Isa in the City of Mount Isa, Queensland, Australia. In the , Parkside had a population of 1,532 people. Geography The Leichhardt River flows north-south through the town of Mount Isa, dividing the suburbs of the town into "mineside" (west of the Leichhardt River) and "townside" (east of the Leichhardt River). Parkside is a "mineside" suburb. History St Joseph's Catholic Primary School was established by the Sisters of St Joseph in Railway Avenue in 1923 and operated there until 1984. Parkside Colliery
Parkside Colliery was a coal mine in Newton-le-Willows, in the historic county of Lancashire, but from 1974, until its closure in 1993, it was in the metropolitan county of Merseyside. It was always described as being in Lancashire, and was the last deep coal mine operating in the Lancashire Coalfield upon closure. History The sinking of the shafts started in 1957, with at least one fatality before any coal had been wound to the surface. The site commenced operations in 1959, when the groundworks had been completed. Developing the site had cost the National Coal Board (NCB), over £13 million; however, the first coal brought to the surface did not occur until 1964, seven years after the initial groundworks on site. A pair of Koepe winding towers, both high, were installed above the shafts, both were made of concrete and destroyed fairly quickly after closure. Parkside is a neighborhood in the West Philadelphia section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. Much of the Parkside neighborhood was built during the 1876 Centennial Exhibition. It is a National Register of Historic Places Historic District with many examples of Victorian architecture, some well-preserved, others in poor condition. The neighborhood was populated by German Americans, followed by Eastern European Jews, before becoming heavily African American after World War II. Geography Parkside is in southern Delaware County, bordered to the east by Chester, to the south by Upland, and to the west by Brookhaven. Parkside is an inner southern Suburbs and localities (Australia), suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. It is located in the City of Unley. History The suburb was once home to the mental health campus of the Royal Adelaide Hospital. Known as 'The Parkside Asylum', it was the primary mental health facility in the state, and occupied approximately one-third of the suburb's area. Parkside Post Office opened on 10 December 1859 and was renamed Eastwood, South Australia, Eastwood in 1967.
