Parks Bonifay
Parks Bonifay (born September 30, 1981) is an American professional wakeboarder. Life and career Bonifay was born in Lake Alfred, Florida. He became a professional wakeboarder in 1994. Parks began competing as a 14-year-old, winning the X-Games in his first visit. He has held many major titles including the Pro Wakeboard Tour titles in 1999 and 2001. He began waterskiing at the age six months, 29 days old setting a new world record. He became the first documented wakeboarder to land the 1080 (a switch toeside 1080), doing so at a Bill Doster photoshoot in 1999. Bonifay was a recurring star on MTV's extreme action sports show Nitro Circus. He is sponsored by Ronix, FoxRed Bull Spy, MasterCraft, and Performance Ski & Surf. A full-length feature documentary on Parks' life was released on August 21, 2009, aptly titled The Parks Documentary. Lake Alfred, Florida
Lake Alfred is a city in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was approximately 5,015 at the 2010 Census. It is part of the Lakeland– Winter Haven Metropolitan Statistical Area. History The city was established soon after the South Florida Railroad reached the area in 1883. It had a number of early names, including Fargo, Chubb and Bartow Junction. The settlement was named Fargo by snowbirds escaping the cold of Fargo, North Dakota. They at first named the settlement after their hometown, but the United States Postal Service protested after a series of mix-ups with the town of Largo. The town then became Chubb and later Bartow Junction because it lay at the junction of a railroad leading south into the county seat Bartow. Betty Bonifay
Betty Bonifay is a professional water skier and mother to professional wakeboarders Shane and Parks Bonifay. In 1976, she and Sally Winter were instrumental in developing the technique for skiing on a 360-degree swivel binding that allowed turning in a full circle while on a single water ski. The 360 swivel ski debuted in the Cypress Gardens' Super Show in 1977. She has been designing safer equipment for over 30 years and owns her own business in creating a new, foam-filled swivel ski.
