Parkdale is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 23 km south-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Kingston local government area. Parkdale recorded a population of 12,308 at the . It is situated between the suburbs of Mentone and Mordialloc, and is located on the Frankston railway line. Parkdale was founded in 1920, and named for early homesteader William Parker when engineers decided to build a railway station alongside a cluster of five bayside shops. Parkdale Post Office opened on 6 January 1921. Parkdale's local library, ''Kingston Library'', is located on Parkers Road adjacent to Parkdale station. Parkdale is also a noted beach-side suburb. Timothy Noel Richardson (born 18 September 1988) is an Australian politician. He has been a Labor Party member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly since November 2014, representing the Legislative Assembly seat of Mordialloc. Personal life Richardson is married and has a young daughter. Richardson was the first member of his family to attend university; he attained a Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Commerce from Deakin University. Parliamentary career Richardson was elected to Parliament representing Mordialloc with the Labor party's victory at the 2014 Victorian State election, defeating incumbent Lorraine Wreford who had held the seat since 2010 with a swing of 3.6%. Nicole Dawn Livingstone, OAM (born 24 June 1971) is an Australian former competitive swimmer. Since retiring from swimming Livingstone has had careers as a television sports commentator and media presenter and as a sports administrator. Scott Michael Boland (born 11 April 1989) is an Australian international cricketer. A right-arm fast-medium bowler, he also plays domestically for Victoria and the Hobart Hurricanes. The Melbourne Cup is a Thoroughbred horse race held in Melbourne, Australia. It is a 3200-metre race for three-year-olds and over, conducted by the Victoria Racing Club on the Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne, Victoria as part of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival. It is the richest "two-mile" handicap in the world and one of the richest turf races. Mentone Railway Station
Mentone railway station is located on the Frankston line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the south-eastern Melbourne suburb of Mentone, and it opened on 19 December 1881 as Balcombe Road. It was renamed Balcombe on 1 September 1882, and was renamed Mentone on 7 January 1884. It is classed as a Premium Station, and it is listed on the Victorian Heritage Register. History Mentone station opened on 1 September 1882, when the line from Caulfield was extended to Mordialloc. Like the suburb itself, the station is named after the French Riviera resort Menton. A former siding at the station existed until the 1940s, operating across Station Street to a timber yard. Hampton Railway Station, Melbourne
Hampton railway station is located on the Sandringham line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the south-eastern Melbourne suburb of Hampton, opened on 2 September 1887. It was renamed Retreat on 1 October of that year, and was renamed back to Hampton on 10 September 1889. The station is directly north of a level crossing with Hampton Street. The station consists of two side platforms, accessed through the brick station buildings on each side, provided in 1975. The station has independent disabled access. Carrum Railway Station
Carrum railway station is located on the Frankston line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the south-eastern Melbourne suburb of Carrum, and opened on 1 August 1882. History Carrum station opened on 1 August 1882, when the line from Mordialloc was extended to Frankston. Like the suburb itself, the station was named after the nearby Carrum Swamp, the name believed to be derived from an Indigenous word describing a boomerang. In 1947, interlocked gates were installed at the former Station Street level crossing, which was at the up end of the station, and was the last installation of interlocking gates in Victoria.
