Park Nam-ok
Park Nam-ok (; February 24, 1923 – April 8, 2017) was a Korean film director. Park was considered to be the first Korean woman to direct a domestic film in her country. She is best known for her first film, ''The Widow'' (Mimang-in), released in March 1955. Park lived in the United States. Biography As a young person, Park loved movies and was a fan of actor, Kim Shin-jae. Park attended the Ewha Women's Professional School starting 1943, but dropped out before graduation to work as a reporter in Daegu. Park worked for the Chosun Film Company, starting in 1945 after Korea's liberation from Japan. She was introduced into the studios by the director, Yoon Yong-kyu, who she knew through a friend. Park was involved as a scripter on the 1947 film, ''A New Oath'', directed by Shin Kyeong-gyun. During the Korean War, she worked on a war film where she met her husband, Lee Bo-ra. Ewha Womans University () is a private women's university in Seoul founded in 1886 by Mary F. Scranton under Emperor Gojong. It was the first university founded in South Korea. Currently, Ewha is one of the world's largest female educational institutes and one of the most prestigious universities in South Korea. Chosun Film Company
Joseon (; ; Middle Korean: 됴ᇢ〯션〮 Dyǒw syéon or 됴ᇢ〯션〯 Dyǒw syěon), officially the Great Joseon (; ), was the last dynastic kingdom of Korea, lasting just over 500 years. It was founded by Yi Seong-gye in July 1392 and replaced by the Korean Empire in October 1897. Shin Young-kyun
Shin Young-kyun (born November 6, 1928) is a South Korean actor, film producer, and politician. Biography Shin Young-kyun was born in Pyongsan, Hwanghae Province (now part of North Korea) in 1928. When he was 10 years old, Shin went to Seoul. While studying dentistry at Seoul National University, he participated in a drama club where he got to know Park Am, Gil Yok-yun, and Lee Nak-hoon, who later became actors and composer. Yim Soon-rye (born January 1, 1961) is a South Korean film director and screenwriter. She is considered one of the few leading female auteurs of Korean New Wave cinema.
