Paris–Roubaix Femmes
Paris–Roubaix Femmes is a one day women's bicycle race on cobbled roads (or pavé) in northern France, held annually in early April. It is part of the UCI Women's World Tour. The equivalent men's race is a cycling monument, and after the Tour of Flanders and Liège–Bastogne–Liège, is the third to stage a women's edition. History Paris–Roubaix is one of cycling's oldest races, and was first held in 1896. The announcement of the inaugural women's edition of Paris–Roubaix came as a surprise addition to the revised 2020 UCI Women's World Tour calendar. The race was scheduled for 25 October 2020, but was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The first edition of Paris–Roubaix Femmes took place in 2021, with Lizzie Deignan winning following a 80km solo attack described by commentators as one of the greatest Roubaix rides of all time. 2022 Paris–Roubaix Femmes
The 2022 Paris–Roubaix Femmes (officially Paris–Roubaix Femmes avec Zwift) was a French road cycling one-day race that took place on 16 April 2022. It was the 2nd edition of Paris–Roubaix Femmes and the 8th event of the 2022 UCI Women's World Tour. The race was won by the Italian champion Elisa Longo Borghini, after a solo break with around 30 kilometres remaining, the second win by a long solo break in succession, after Lizzie Deignan's inaugural edition triumph in 2021. Route The route used a near identical course to the first edition, with the only change being an additional starting circuit in Denain. Trek–Segafredo is a professional cycling team that competes in elite road bicycle racing events such as the UCI Women's World Tour. History In July 2018, ''Cyclingnews'' reported that a new UCI Women's team would be set up by the same management as the men's UCI WorldTeam program. The 2020 Paris–Roubaix Femmes was a one-day road cycling race scheduled to take place on 25 October 2020, on the same day as the postponed men's race, which had been rescheduled from its traditional date in April due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, on 9 October 2020, the race was cancelled due to an increase of coronavirus cases in France. The race would have been the first women's edition of Paris–Roubaix. The first edition of Paris–Roubaix Femmes subsequently took place in 2021. Carrefour De L'Arbre
Carrefour de l'Arbre, officially Pavé de Luchin, is a 2.1 km cobbled road in the municipalities of Camphin-en-Pévèle, Baisieux-Sin and Gruson, in the Nord department of Northern France. The location was the setting of the Battle of Bouvines, which ended the Anglo-French War in 1214. Today, the road is best known from the cycling classic Paris–Roubaix, where it has often proved decisive due to its proximity to Roubaix and cumulative difficulty. Denain (; pcd, Dnain) is a commune in the Nord department in northern France. Denain had a population of 19,877, on a land area of 11.52 km² (4.448 sq mi). It is the largest of 47 communes which comprise the Communauté d'agglomération de la Porte du Hainaut, which in 2017 had a total population of 158,754. Roubaix Velodrome
The Roubaix Velodrome (officially Vélodrome André-Pétrieux) is a velodrome in Roubaix, Nord, France. It was opened in 1936 and has hosted the finish of the one-day " monument classic" cycling race Paris–Roubaix since 1943. The race moved to the current stadium in 1943, and there it has stayed with the exceptions of 1986, 1987 and 1988 when the finish was in the avenue des Nations-Unies, outside the offices of La Redoute, the mail-order company which sponsored the race.
