Paris Photo
Paris Photo is an annual international art fair dedicated to photography. It was founded in 1997, and is held in November at the Grand Palais exhibition hall and museum complex, located at the Champs-Élysées in the 8th arrondissement in Paris. The event offers a selection of photo-based artworks from galleries alongside a public programme of exhibitions, prizes, art signings and talks. The Fair currently presents four exhibition sectors: the main gallery sector with solo and group shows and thematic projects, the Prisms sector devoted to large-format series and installation works, the video sector with moving images, and the Book sector with publishers and dealers. History Founded in 1997, Paris Photo presented 53 galleries for its first edition at the Carrousel du Louvre. Michael Christopher Brown
Michael Christopher Brown (born December 18, 1978) is an American photographer known for his documentation of the 2011 Libyan Civil War and the resulting monograph, ''Libyan Sugar'' (2016). Career Brown was raised in the Skagit Valley, a farming community in Washington. After moving to New York City in 2005, he joined the Italian photo agency Grazia Neri in 2006. He then moved to Beijing, China, in 2009 and over the next two years put together a series of works from road and train trips across the country. In 2010 Brown began taking pictures with an iPhone, driving around eastern China in his Jinbei van. Since then he produced iPhone photographs in Libya, Egypt, Congo (DRC), Central African Republic, Cuba and Palestine. Mathieu Asselin
Mathieu Asselin (born 25 June 1973) is a French-Venezuelan photographer artist specializing in documentary photography and portraiture related to social issues. He is based in New York City. In 2017 his book ''Monsanto: A Photographic Investigation,'' "a powerful indictment of corporate power and ecological irresponsibility", won the Paris Photo-Aperture Foundation First PhotoBook Award and was a finalist for the Deutsche Börse Photography Prize. Life and work Asselin began his career working on film productions in Caracas, Venezuela and then as a photographer in Europe. He currently works as a photographer in New York City.
