Paris Métro Line 7bis
Paris Métro Line 7bis is the second shortest line of the metro operating in Paris, France. It serves the 19th and 20th arrondissements in the North East of the city. Chronology *18 January 1911: The section between Louis Blanc and Pré-Saint-Gervais was opened as a branch of Line 7. *1967 : Because of a lack of traffic, the branch became a separate line known as line 7bis. *1993 - 1994: The line becomes the first line equipped with MF 88 trains. Tourism Métro Line 7bis serves the Parc des Buttes Chaumont. Future The merger of line 3bis and line 7bis, connected through an existing rail tunnel and allowing the opening of a closed station ( Haxo), is being studied. The line 7 bis would be extended one station west to have its terminus at Château-Landon. The proposed merger of lines 3bis and Paris Métro Line 7bis was postponed indefinitely in March 2013. Château-Landon () is a station on line 7 of the Paris Métro in the 10th arrondissement. History The station was opened on 5 November 1910 as part of the first section of the line from Opéra to Porte de la Villette. It is named after the ''Rue Château-Landon'', a street which was built on property once owned by a family from Château-Landon in Seine-et-Marne. The street is on the alignment of the Roman road from Lutetia towards the North via Saint-Denis. It was planned to become the end of the future new line (created from the merger of line 3bis and line 7bis). It is also planned to build an underground pedestrian connection to the RER Line E station of Magenta, which would also link to the Gare du Nord and the Gare de l'Est. Haxo () is a ghost station on the Paris Métro. It lies on an unused connecting branch between lines 3bis and 7bis. A single track was built linking Place des Fêtes to Porte des Lilas, known as ''la voie des Fêtes'', with one intermediate station, Haxo. For traffic in the other direction, another track was constructed linking Porte des Lilas to Pré Saint-Gervais, with no intermediate station, called ''la voie navette''. Paris Métro Line 3bis ( French: ''Ligne 3 bis du métro de Paris'') is one of the sixteen lines of the Paris Métro. It connects Gambetta and Porte des Lilas in the 20th arrondissement in the east of Paris. With a length of and four stations, the line is the shortest in the network. It is also the least used line, with just over 1.6 million passengers in 2003, behind Line 7bis's 3.5 million. The line was constructed during the 1910s as an extension to Line 3, but the two were disconnected in 1971. From then on Line 3bis was operated separately. The Parc des Buttes Chaumont () is a public park situated in northeastern Paris, France, in the 19th arrondissement. Occupying , it is the fifth-largest park in Paris, after the Bois de Vincennes, Bois de Boulogne, Parc de la Villette and Tuileries Garden. Paris Métro Line 7 is one of sixteen lines of the Paris Métro system. Crossing the capital from its north-eastern to south-eastern sections via a moderately curved path, it links La Courneuve – 8 mai 1945 in the north with Mairie d'Ivry and Villejuif – Louis Aragon in the south, while passing through important parts of central Paris. Line 7 began operating in 1910 and, along with Line 13, is one of only two Métro lines that has a branch. Originally located in the northeast and splitting at Louis Blanc, it was transferred in 1967 to what is now Line 7bis.
