Paramount Styles
Paramount Styles is an American indie rock band from New York formed by Scott McCloud, guitarist of Girls Against Boys. McCloud recorded the debut with Alexis Fleisig (Girls Against Boys), Richard Fortus (Guns N' Roses, The Psychedelic Furs) and some others. Live the band consisted of Alexis Fleisig, Geoff Sanoff (Edsel, Stratosphere) Simon Lenski (DAAU) playing cello, and Chris Smets (Star Club West) on lead guitar. In 2008, during the US tour John Schmersal ( Enon) also participated as well as Geoff Sanoff, Jessica Billey, Michael Hampton and Julia Kent. In spring 2009, the band tours through Europe with guitarist CChhris 'The sound' Smet. Edsel
Edsel is a discontinued division and brand of automobiles that was marketed by the Ford Motor Company from the 1958 to the 1960 model years. Deriving its name from Edsel Ford, son of company founder Henry Ford, Edsels were developed in an effort to give Ford a fourth brand to gain additional market share from Chrysler and General Motors. Established as an expansion of the Lincoln-Mercury Division to three brands (re-christened the Mercury-Edsel-Lincoln Division), Edsel shared a price range with Mercury; the division shared its bodies with both Mercury and Ford. ''Pitchfork'' (formerly ''Pitchfork Media'') is an American online music publication (currently owned by Condé Nast) that was launched in 1995 by writer Ryan Schreiber as an independent music blog. Schreiber started Pitchfork while working at a record store in suburban Minneapolis, and the website earned a reputation for its extensive coverage of indie rock music. It has since expanded and covers all kinds of music, including pop. Pitchfork was sold to Condé Nast in 2015, although Schreiber remained its editor-in-chief until he left the website in 2019. Though situated for a time in Philadelphia, Enon was known for being part of the New York music scene. Biography Schmersal was originally in the band Brainiac and formed Enon (named after the village in Ohio, which is close to Schmersal's hometown of Dayton) with Lee and Calhoon following the death of Brainiac's singer Timmy Taylor and their subsequent disbandment. After Brainiac, Schmersal made a solo album under the name John Stuart Mill. Rick Lee and Steve Calhoon were both previous members of the band Skeleton Key, a befriended band Brainiac had toured with. Together they formed Enon. Simon Lenski
Simon Lenski is a cello player from Antwerp, Belgium. His main activity lies within the band DAAU which he co-founded in 1992. As a cello player, he is a highly sought guest musician for other artists and music groups, often together with his brother Buni Lenski. In 2004 he set up a collaboration with Swiss avant-garde cello player Bo Wiget. Together they released an album ''Die Vögelein schweigen im Walde''. In 2008 Simon Lenski composed the soundtrack for the movie Left Bank Linkeroever. Simon Lenski composed the music for several theater plays. In 2011 Simon Lenski composed and recorded the soundtrack for the short movie ''Motor'' of Dutch movie maker Simone Bennett. The stratosphere () is the second layer of the atmosphere of the Earth, located above the troposphere and below the mesosphere. The Psychedelic Furs
The Psychedelic Furs are a post-punk band founded in London in February 1977. Led by lead vocalist Richard Butler and his brother Tim Butler on bass guitar, the Psychedelic Furs are one of the many acts spawned from the British post-punk scene. Their music went through several phases, from an initially austere art rock sound, to later touching on new wave and hard rock. The band had several hits in their early career. In 1986, filmmaker John Hughes used their song "Pretty in Pink" for his film of the same name. They went on hiatus after they finished touring in 1992, but resumed in 2000 and continue to perform live. The band released '' Made of Rain'', their first studio album in nearly three decades, on 31 July 2020.
