Panoraama
Panoraama is a tall gyro tower at the Linnanmäki amusement park in Helsinki, Finland. Its observation deck rises about above sea level. Panoraama was built in 1987 by the Swiss Intamin and offers capacity for 400 visitors per hour. It was originally known as Panorama, but the name was changed to Panoraama (with an additional letter "''a''") when Linnanmäki changed the naming policy for its rides and started to use only words that are correct in the Finnish language. Originally, Linnanmäki was planning a real observation tower, like the considerably taller Näsinneula at the Särkänniemi park in Tampere, but first there were legal issues and later problems with funding. Eventually, Linnanmäki chose to build a tower in the form of a gyro tower ride. Panoraama is one of the best places to view the city of Helsinki, as the tower is located only about from the centre of the city. Linnanmäki
Linnanmäki ( sv, Borgbacken, colloquially ''Lintsi'', ) is an amusement park in Helsinki, Finland. It was opened on 27 May 1950 and is owned by the non-profit Children's Day Foundation (, ), which operates the park in order to raise funds for Finnish child welfare work. In 2019, the foundation donated , and so far has donated a total of over to this cause. Gyro Tower
A gyro tower, or panoramic tower, is a revolving observation tower with a vertical moving platform. A gyro tower's observation deck is not simply raised to provide its passengers a spectacular view, it is also rotated around the supporting mast, either once in the raised position or while traveling up and down the center mast. Gyro towers are seldom part of funfairs but can be found more often in permanent amusement parks. A well-known American gyro tower is the Kissing Tower at Hersheypark. A special gyro tower is the Space Tower atop the Euromast in Rotterdam. It may be the only gyro tower standing on a roof of a structure and not on the ground. A panorama (formed from Greek πᾶν "all" + ὅραμα "view") is any wide-angle view or representation of a physical space, whether in painting, drawing, photography, film, seismic images, or 3D modeling. The word was originally coined in the 18th century by the English (Irish descent) painter Robert Barker to describe his panoramic paintings of Edinburgh and London. Näsinneula
Näsinneula (; ) is an observation tower in Tampere, Finland, overseeing Lake Näsijärvi. It was built in 1970–1971 and was designed by Pekka Ilveskoski. It is the tallest free-standing structure in Finland and at present the tallest observation tower in the Nordic countries at a height of . The tower opened in 1971 and is located in the Särkänniemi amusement park. There is a revolving restaurant in the tower above the ground; one revolution takes 45 minutes. The design of Näsinneula was inspired by the Space Needle in Seattle. The idea of a revolving restaurant was taken from the Puijo Tower, which is located in Kuopio, the city of North Savonia. Särkänniemi (; translates to "Cape of Sandbank") is an amusement park in Tampere, Finland, located in the district by the same name. The park features an aquarium, a planetarium, a children's zoo, an art museum and an observation tower Näsinneula (Näsi Needle). Särkänniemi is the second most popular amusement park in Finland with Linnanmäki in Helsinki being the most popular one. Särkänniemi has five rollercoasters: the inverted coaster Tornado, the flying coaster Trombi, the family motorcycle launch coaster MotoGee and Hype, a launched steel Sky Rocket II coaster, and family coaster Vauhtimato ("Speedy Worm").
