Panic Attack (EP)
''Panic Attack'' is an EP released by the Australian rock band Grinspoon in March 2003. The EP was originally released by itself, but also appeared as a bonus disc with a re-release version of an earlier studio album, ''New Detention'', on 10 March 2003. The EP was developed after Grinspoon recorded a cover of the INXS hit, "Don't Change" for the soundtrack of an Australian film, ''Danny Deckchair'' (May 2003). Its recording and release were relatively rushed between ''New Detention''s first appearance in June 2002 and their next studio album ''Thrills, Kills & Sunday Pills'' in September 2004. Band member Pat Davern described the four tracks to Greg Lawrence of WHAMMO website: for "Don't Change" he said "We did the cover, basically for Livid", the group had appeared at that festival in the previous October–November; "Off Piste" was "a new track"; while both "Boredom" and "Fall Away" were "B-sides from the ''New Detention'' sessions. Grinspoon
Grinspoon are an Australian Rock music, rock band from Lismore, New South Wales, formed in 1995 and fronted by Phil Jamieson on vocals and guitar with Pat Davern on guitar, Joe Hansen on bass guitar and Kristian Hopes on drums. Also in 1995, Grinspoon won the Triple J-sponsored Unearthed (talent contest), Unearthed competition for Lismore, with their post-grunge song "Grinspoon (EP), Sickfest". The name "Grinspoon" was taken from Lester Grinspoon, Dr. Lester Grinspoon, an associate professor emeritus of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, who supported marijuana for medical use. Post-grunge
Post-grunge is a derivative of grunge that has a less abrasive or intense tone than traditional grunge. Originally, the term was used almost pejoratively to label mid-1990s rock bands such as Bush (British band), Bush, Candlebox and Collective Soul that emulated the original sound of grunge. Phillip Jeffrey McKellar is an Australian record producer and audio engineer. New Detention
''New Detention'' is the third studio album by Australian alternative rock band Grinspoon. It was released in 2002 by record label Grudge, which peaked at No. 2 on the ARIA Albums Chart. By December that year it was certified platinum for shipment of 70,000 units. Content The ballad "Chemical Heart" marked a change in focus for the band towards a more mature, mainstream sound. This change would become more apparent on their next album, ''Thrills, Kills & Sunday Pills'' (2004), however, ''New Detention'' did contain songs in the classic Grinspoon style to appeal to fans of their previous work, such as the songs "Boltcutter" and "Killswitch". It was released on 20 September 2004 by record label, Universal Music, with Howard Benson producing. Pat Davern is an Australian musician and the guitarist for Grinspoon. His solo album ''Alexander the Elephant in Zanzibar'' was nominated for the 2016 ARIA Award for Best Children's Album. During a hiatus for Grinspoon Davern wrote a book "Alexander the Elephant in Zanzibar" which was illustrated by Martin Chatterton. The book was launched in November 2015.
