Panfilov Street Promenade
Panfilov Street Promenade is a promenade located in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The Abay Opera House, where the promenade starts, and KBTU Building are located within it, which was redesigned by Danish urban designer Jan Gehl. The promenade ends in Arbat. History The Almaty City Maslihat was responsible for the large-scale reconstruction of the Almaty's historical city center. The renovation on Panfilov Street took place from the State Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet to Abay Opera House. Officials said that before the creation of the project, they studied numerous pedestrian boulevards around the world, using Barcelona's Ramblas as the main reference for the project. The promenade is predominantly a pedestrian area. However, it does include a narrow passage designed for special transport. Abay Opera House ( kk, Абай атындағы қазақ мемлекеттік академиялық опера және балет театры, translit=Abaı atyndaǵy qazaq memlekettik akademııalyq opera jáne balet teatry) is one of the leading opera houses in Kazakhstan located in Almaty city. KBTU Building
The KBTU Building is a building in Almaty that is located in the Astana Square. Constructed in 1957, it is one of the most historic and iconic buildings in the city. History The building was originally intended to serve the Supreme Soviet of the Kazakh SSR. The construction of it began in 1938 at the cost of 14 million rubles, but by 1941, only excavations were dug on the spot. During World War II, construction was suspended, it was resumed in 1951 and completed in 1957. The building was designed in the workshop of Mosproject under the direction of architect Boris Rubanenko. The drafts were carried out by Kazgorstroyproekt under the direction of P.A. Mamontov, G.A. Kalish. The building consists of three compositional volumes, interconnected by wide passages. Jan Gehl Hon. FAIA (born 17 September 1936, Copenhagen) is a Danish architect and urban design consultant based in Copenhagen whose career has focused on improving the quality of urban life by re-orienting city design towards the pedestrian and cyclist. Arbat is a pedestrian zone in Almaty, Kazakhstan. It is located on Jibek Joly Street, between Abylai Khan Avenue and Nazarbayev Street.
