Pampally (born 1979), is an Indian film director and screenwriter from Kerala state. His debut feature film, ''Sinjar'', was selected as the Best Feature Film in Jasari and the Best Debut Film of a Director at the 65th National Film Awards in 2018. Sinjar (film)
''Sinjar'' is a 2018 Indian Jasari language film written and directed by Pampally. The movie grabbed the Best Feature Film in Jasari and Indira Gandhi Award for Best Debut Film of a Director at the 65th National Film Awards, which were declared at New Delhi on 13 April 2018. Sinjar also won award in Best Debut Film of a Director. This is the first movie shot in Jasari language and the director saw it as an attempt at reviving the language. Plot The film's plot centers around Ansar, the protagonist, his sister Suhara, and Ansar's fiancée Fida. According to their customs, Ansar did not bring Fida home until after the wedding. However, the story takes a dramatic turn when Suhara and Fida are kidnapped by ISIS terrorists while working abroad. The Ministry of External Affairs eventually rescues them and brings them back to Lakshadweep, along with several other women who had also been working overseas. The Indira Gandhi Award for Best Debut Film of a Director is one of the National Film Awards presented annually by the Directorate of Film Festivals, the organization set up by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, India. It is one of several awards presented for feature films and awarded with Golden Lotus (Swarna Kamal).
