Tanning (leather)
Tanning is the process of treating skins and hides of animals to produce leather. A tannery is the place where the skins are processed. Tanning hide into leather involves a process which permanently alters the protein structure of skin, making it more durable and less susceptible to decomposition and coloring. Before tanning, the skins are dehaired, degreased, desalted and soaked in water over a period of six hours to two days. Historically this process was considered a noxious or "odoriferous trade" and relegated to the outskirts of town. Poonamallee is suburb of Chennai, India under the Chennai Metropolitan Area. Tambaram Railway Station
Tambaram, is one of the railway terminals of the Chennai Beach–Tambaram section of the Chennai Suburban Railway Network. It is situated at a distance of from the centre of Tambaram. Outer Ring Road, Chennai
The Outer Ring Road, officially State Highway 234 (SH 234), is a major transport corridor along the periphery of Chennai Metropolitan Area (CMA) by the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA). It is 62 km long connecting GST Road at Perungalathur, GST Road at Vandalur, NH 48 (GWT Road) at Nazarethpettai, NH 716 (CTH Road) at Pattabiram to NH 16 (GNT Road) at Vijayanaallur and to TPP road at Minjur. The Chennai Bypass Road is a full-access controlled expressway that interconnects four radial Indian National Highways around Chennai, India covering a distance of from Perungalathur (near Tambaram) on NH-32 to puzhal on NH-16 via Maduravoyal at a cost of 4.05 billion. Constructed as part of the National Highway Development Project to decongest the city of transiting vehicles, the expressway interconnects NH-32, NH-48, NH-716 and NH-16. Pallavaram–Thuraipakkam Radial Road
Pallavaram–Thuraipakkam Radial Road (State Highways 109) is an arterial road in Chennai connecting Grand Southern Trunk Road in Pallavaram with Rajiv Gandhi Salai in Thuraipakkam. The road was constructed by State Highways in 2000. Construction of Road divides Pallavaram Eri on the either side of the road. Now Lake is available only on the Northern Side of the Road.
