Cávado (intermunicipal Community)
The Comunidade Intermunicipal do Cávado () is an administrative division in northern Portugal. It was created in 2008. It is also a NUTS3 subregion of the Norte Region. The seat of the intermunicipal community is Braga, Norte. Cávado comprises part of the former Braga District. The population in 2011 was 410,169, in an area of , which makes it one of the most densely populated subregions of Portugal. Currently, as of 2021, it has 416.679 inhabitants and a population density of 351 per square kilometres. Its name is derived from the Cávado River that drains a large part of its territory. Cávado River
The Cávado River ( pt, rio Cávado; ) is a river located in northern Portugal. It has its source in Serra do Larouco at an elevation of above sea level. It runs from Fonte da Pipa, near the triangulation station Larouco, to its mouth into the Atlantic Ocean next to the city of Esposende. The Castle of Dona Chica ( pt, Castelo da Dona Chica) is a neo-romantic castle and/or residence located in the civil parish of Palmeira, municipality of Braga, in the northern region of Portugal. Originally designed by Ernesto Korrodi, the project suffered from a lack of funds early, eventually changing hands and falling into the possession of creditors. Ernesto Korrodi
Ernesto Korrodi (Zürich, 31 January 1870 – Leiria, 3 February 1944), was a Switzerland, Swiss-born architect who moved to Portugal aged 19, spending the remainder of his life there.
