Palian District
Palian ( th, ปะเหลียน, ) is a district (''amphoe'') in the southern part of Trang province, Thailand. Geography Neighboring districts are (from the east clockwise) Kong Ra, Tamot, and Pa Bon of Phatthalung province, Khuan Kalong, Manang, and Thung Wa of Satun province, Hat Samran and Yan Ta Khao of Trang Province. History Originally named ''Yong Sata'' (หยงสตา) or ''Tan Yong Sata'' (ตันหยงสตา; Kelantan-Pattani Malay means ' Mango Plum Cape'), it was renamed ''Palian'' in 1939. Palian is believed to have been a seaport since ancient times, some 1,800 years ago, paired with ''Takola'' (now's Mueang Trang). When an ancient Greek merchant named Alexander sailed through here in 150, and told the story of his journey to Ptolemy. At that time, Palian was called ''Palanda''. Thesaban Tambon
Thesaban ( th, เทศบาล, , ) are the municipalities of Thailand. There are three levels of municipalities: city, town, and sub-district. Bangkok and Pattaya are special municipal entities not included in the ''thesaban'' system. Muban
Muban ( th, หมู่บ้าน; , ) is the lowest administrative sub-division of Thailand. Usually translated as 'village' and sometimes as 'hamlet', they are a subdivision of a tambon (subdistrict). , there were 74,944 administrative mubans in Thailand. As of the 1990 census, the average village consisted of 144 households or 746 persons. Nomenclature ''Muban'' may function as one word, in the sense of a hamlet or village, and as such may be shortened to ''ban''. ''Tambon'' ( th, ตำบล, ) is a local governmental unit in Thailand. Bouea Macrophylla
''Bouea macrophylla'', commonly known as gandaria or plum mango or mango plum in English, is a species of flowering plant native to Southeast Asia. The tree belongs to the family Anacardiaceae which also includes mango and cashew. Description The evergreen tree grows to heights of 25 meters. Its leaves are lanceolate to elliptic in shape (see: Leaf shape), and range from 13 to 45 cm (5 to 17 inches) long and from 5 to 7 cm (2 to 3 inches) wide. The fruit (resembling a mango) are green in colour and mature to an orange/yellow, with the seed being pink. They grow to roughly 2 to 5 cm (0.7 to 1.9 inches) in diameter. The entire fruit, including its skin is edible. The fruit range from sweet to sour in flavor similar to the Alphonso mango, and have a light smell of turpentine. Kelantan-Pattani Malay
Kelantan-Pattani Malay (; ; in Pattani; in Kelantan) is an Austronesian language of the Malayic subfamily spoken in the Malaysian state of Kelantan and the neighbouring southernmost provinces of Thailand. It is the primary spoken language of Thai Malays, but is also used as a lingua franca by ethnic Southern Thais in rural areas, Muslim and non-Muslim and the Sam-Sam, a mostly Thai-speaking population of mixed Malay and Thai ancestry. Yan Ta Khao ( th, ย่านตาขาว, ) is a district (''amphoe'') of Trang province, Thailand. Geography Neighboring districts are (from the south clockwise): Palian, Kantang, Mueang Trang and Na Yong of Trang Province; Srinagarindra and Kong Ra of Phatthalung province. History The minor district ('' king amphoe'') Yan Ta Khao was created on 1 January 1948 as a subordinate of Kantang district. Originally, it consisted of six ''tambons'': Yan Ta Khao, Nong Bo, and Thung Khai were split off from Kantang District, Na Chum Het from Mueang Trang District, and Nai Khuan and Phrong Chorakhe from Palian District.
