Palazzo Crepadona
The Palazzo Crepadona is a medieval palace, presently used as a cultural center including a civic library (Biblioteca Civica di Belluno) and display halls in the historic center of Belluno, region of Veneto, Italy. Description The abandoned palace was acquired by the ''comune'' in 1973. In 1981, in project designed and directed by Mario Dal Mas, was converted into a cultural center. The building is derived from a set of adjacent medieval buildings, united to form an urban fortress. The houses surrounding the courtyard were joined together in 1558, as documented in the central fountain. The interiors contain a number of frescoes, dating from the 14th through the 16th-century. The civic collections include the decorated third century Roman Sarcophagus of Gaio Flavio Ostilio Sertoriano and his wife Domizia discovered under the church of San Stefano in 1480. Belluno
Belluno (; lld, Belum; vec, Belùn) is a town and province in the Veneto region of northern Italy. Located about north of Venice, Belluno is the capital of the province of Belluno and the most important city in the Eastern Dolomites region. The Johannesburg Art Gallery is an art gallery in Joubert Park in the city centre of Johannesburg, South Africa. Agostino Bonalumi
Agostino Bonalumi (July 10, 1935, Vimercate, Kingdom of Italy – September 18, 2013, Desio, Italian Republic) was an Italian painter, draughtsman and sculptor. Biography Bonalumi studied technical and mechanical drawing, and exhibited his first works at the "Premio Nazionale Città di Vimercate" (hors concours) in 1948, when he was just 13 years old. He held his first solo show at the Galleria Totti, Milan, in 1956. In 1958 he began working with Enrico Castellani and Piero Manzoni, holding a group exhibition at the Galleria Pater, Milan, which was followed by further shows in Rome, Milan and Lausanne, the foundation of ''Azimuth'' magazine and his participation in exhibitions at the Azimut gallery. Enzo Cucchi
Enzo Cucchi (born 14 November 1949) is an Italian painter. A native of Morro d'Alba, province of Ancona, he was a key member of the Italian Transavanguardia movement, along with his countrymen Francesco Clemente, Mimmo Paladino, Nicola De Maria, and Sandro Chia. The movement was at its peak during the 1980s and was part of the worldwide movement of Neo-Expressionist painters. Cucchi's first major Retrospective was held at the Solomon R. Domenico "Mimmo" Rotella (Catanzaro, 7 October 1918 – Milan, 8 January 2006) was an Italian artist considered an important figure in post-war European art. Best known for his works of décollage and psychogeographics, made from torn advertising posters. Carla Accardi (9 October 1924 – 23 February 2014) was an Italian abstract painter associated with the Arte Informel and Arte Povera movements, and a founding member of the Italian art groups Forma (1947) and Continuità (1961). Luigi Ontani (Grizzana Morandi, 24 November 1943) is an Italian multidisciplinary artist, known as a painter, photographer and sculptor. Early life and education Luigi Ontani was born 24 November 1943 in Grizzana Morandi, Italy. Ontani studied at the Academy of Fine Arts of Bologna. Dino Buzzati-Traverso (; 14 October 1906 – 28 January 1972) was an Italian novelist, short story writer, painter and poet, as well as a journalist for '' Corriere della Sera''. Sebastiano Ricci
Sebastiano Ricci (1 August 165915 May 1734) was an Italian painter of the late Baroque school of Venice. About the same age as Piazzetta, and an elder contemporary of Tiepolo, he represents a late version of the vigorous and luminous Cortonesque style of grand manner fresco painting. He was the uncle of Marco Ricci (1676 – 1730), who trained with him, and became an innovator in landscape painting. Early years He was born in Belluno, the son of Andreana and Livio Ricci. Andrea Brustolon
Andrea Brustolon (20 July 1662 – 25 October 1732) was an Italian sculptor in wood. He is known for his furnishings in the Baroque style and devotional sculptures. Biography He was trained in a vigorous local tradition of sculpture in his native Belluno, in the Venetian ''terraferma'', and in the studio of the Genoese sculptor Filippo Parodi, who was carrying out commissions at Padua and at Venice (1677). He spent the years 1678-80 at Rome, where the High Baroque sculpture of Bernini and his contemporaries polished his style. Apart from that, the first phase of Brustolon's working career was spent in Venice, 1680–1685. Ippolito Caffi
Ippolito Caffi (1809–1866) was an Italian painter of architectural subjects and seascapes or urban vedute. Biography He was born at Belluno. His first works were produced at the Academy of Fine Arts of Venice. By 1830, he had won awards for his vedute at the academy. He subsequently moved to Rome, made some reputation by his treatise on perspective, as well as by his investigations on Roman archaeology.
