Molise
Molise (, , ; nap, label=Neapolitan language, Neapolitan, Mulise) is a Regions of Italy, region of Southern Italy. Until 1963, it formed part of the region of Abruzzi e Molise, alongside the region of Abruzzo. The split, which did not become effective until 1970, makes Molise the newest region in Italy. Covering , it is the second smallest region in the country after the Aosta Valley, and has a population of 313,348 (as of 1 January 2015). The region is split into two provinces, named after their respective capitals Campobasso Province, Campobasso and Isernia Province, Isernia. Campobasso also serves as the regional capital. Acquaviva Collecroce
Acquaviva Collecroce (also called ''Živavoda Kruč'' or, usually, just ''Kruč'') is a small town and ''comune'' in the province of Campobasso, in the Molise region of southern Italy, between the Biferno and Trigno rivers. Like the smaller towns of Montemitro and San Felice del Molise, Acquaviva Collecroce is home to a community of Molisian Croats, most of whom speak a particular Croatian dialect (known as simply ''na-našo'' or ''naš jezik'', meaning "our language") as well as Italian. It sits on a hilltop overlooking Lake Guardialfiera, which was created as a result of the damming of the Biferno river. Guglionesi (; local dialect: or ) is a town and ''comune'' in Molise, southern Italy, about from Campobasso. History Founded in the 5th century BC, at the time it was known as ''Uscosium'' or ''Usconium'' and together with Pescara, Ortona, Lanciano, Vasto and Larino, it was one of the most important centers of the Frentani, an Italic people that was part of the Samnites confederations. Thanks to its strategic position along the ''Via Frentana-Traiana'', ''Usconium'' became, towards the end of the Republican Era, a ''municipium'', reaching a population of some 25,000 inhabitants. Usconium was located between ''Monte Antico'' and ''Monte Capraro'', where Guglionesi is now found. Larino ( nap, label= Campobassan dialect, Larìne; la, Larinum) is a town and ''comune'' of approximately 8,100 inhabitants in Molise, province of Campobasso, southern Italy. It is located in the fertile valley of the Biferno River. The old town, seen from the mountains, is shaped like a bird's wing. The new town, called Piano San Leonardo, is built on a mountainside.
