Palakkad Road, is an arterial road in Coimbatore, India. This road connects the city to Palakkad and the state of Kerala and the south-west suburbs in the Coimbatore metropolitan area. Description Palakkad Road is the main gateway into the city by road from Palakkad, Thrissur, Ernakulam and Walayar. This road is a part of National highways 544 (Salem - Kochin Highway) is now maintained by the National Highways Authority of India. This road is a 7-km stretch of road running diagonally across the city in east–west orientation. Pollachi road starts near to Aathupalam in Karumbukkadai, and it passes through the important neighbourhoods of Kuniyamuthur, Marapalam and Madukkarai. The National Highways Authority of India or NHAI (Hindi: भारतीय राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग प्राधिकरण) is an autonomous agency of the Government of India, set up in 1995 (Act 1988) and is responsible for management of a network of over 50,000 km of National Highway (India), National Highways out of 1,32,499 km in India. Coimbatore Bypass
The Coimbatore Bypass Road refers to a series of bypasses connecting the various National Highways and State Highways passing through and originating in the South Indian city of Coimbatore. The Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation is undertaking the construction of six rail-over-bridges in the city. In 2008, the State Highways Department came up with a proposal to create a Ring Road passing through Peelamedu Road, Kalapatti Road, Saravanampatty Road and Kurumbapalayam Road to help decongest Avanashi Road, Mettupalayam Road and Sathyamangalam Road. The 12 km road would extend from the South India Textile Research Association (SITRA) Junction in Peelamedu, going through Kalapatti Road and connect Sathyamangalam Road at Saravanampatty and then it would connect Mettuppalayam Road at Kurumbapalayam. Walayar is a border town, located in the eastern corner of Palakkad district in Kerala, India. Geography Walayar lies on the border between Kerala and Tamil Nadu on National Highway 544 (NH544) (NH 47 old). Most of the goods imported into Kerala come by road and predominantly on this road. Due to its traffic volume, the route once had notorious traffic jams. But this changed with the improvement of NH 47 from Walayar to Vadakkanchery. It now has four lanes, with service roads and other facilities. The Coimbatore Municipal Corporation is the civic body that governs the city of Coimbatore in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
