''Pachycara crassiceps'' is a species of marine ray-finned fish belonging to the Family (biology), family Zoarcidae, the eelpouts. It is found in the Eastern Atlantic Ocean. Taxonomy ''Pachycara crassiceps'' was first formally Species description, described as ''Lycenchelys crassiceps'' by the French zoologist Louis Roule with its type locality given as the Gulf of Gascony. The Specific name (zoology), specific name ''crassiceps'' means "thick headed" and allusion to the head being larger than the head of ''Lycenchelys paxillus'', with which it was presumed to be congeneric. Description ''Pachycara crassiceps'' has a moderately elongate body which has a depth at the origin of the anal fin equivalent to between 11% and 14 % of its total length, or 11.7% to 13.6 % of its standard length. Louis Roule
Louis Roule (; 20 December 1861 – 30 July 1942) was a French zoologist born in Marseille. In 1881 he obtained a degree in natural sciences at Marseille, followed by his doctorate of sciences (1884) at Paris with a thesis on ascidians of coastal Provence. From 1885 he worked as a lecturer at the faculty of sciences in Toulouse, where in 1892 he became a professor. During the previous year (1891), he earned a doctorate in medicine. In 1910 he succeeded Léon Vaillant (1834–1914) as chair of zoology (reptiles and fish) at the Muséum national d'histoire naturelle in Paris, a position he would hold until 1937. During this time period he was also an instructor at the Institut National Agronomique (from 1925), and director of the laboratory of ichthyology at the École pratique des hautes études (EPHE). Pelvic Fin
Pelvic fins or ventral fins are paired fins located on the ventral surface of fish. The paired pelvic fins are homologous to the hindlimbs of tetrapods. Structure and function Structure In actinopterygians, the pelvic fin consists of two endochondrally-derived bony girdles attached to bony radials. The Sipuncula or Sipunculida (common names sipunculid worms or peanut worms) is a class containing about 162 species of unsegmented marine annelid worms.
