Polish Basketball League
Polska Liga Koszykówki (PLK) (English language, English: Polish Basketball League) is a professional men's club basketball list of basketball leagues, league in Poland. It constitutes the first and highest-tier level of the Polish basketball league system, Polish league pyramid. The winning team of the final round are crowned the Polish Champions of that season. It began in 1947–48, with the name of I Liga, and was originally organized by the Polish Basketball Federation. The league changed to its current form, beginning with the 1997–98 season, after the Polska Liga Koszykówki SA, PLK SA (the Polish Basketball League Joint-stock company) took control over the league (the PLK SA was created in 1995). In 2000–01 season the league turned professional. The PLK, which is played under FIBA Europe, FIBA rules, currently consists of 16 teams. Turów Zgorzelec
PGE Turów Zgorzelec is a Polish a basketball team based in Zgorzelec. The club played in the Polish League (PLK) and won the Polish championship once, in the 2013–14 season. The club was sponsored by the PGE Group, and they are also the club's name sponsor as well but in 2018, the club withdrew after the PGE Group pulled back their sponsoring. Stal Ostrów Wielkopolski, also known as Arged BM Slam Stal Ostrów Wielkopolski for sponsorship reasons, is a Polish basketball team, based in Ostrów Wielkopolski. They play in the Polish Basketball League (PLK) since its promotion back in 2015. The club won the Polish national championship in 2021 and the Polish Cup in 2019 and 2022. Ivan Almeida (born 10 May 1989) is a Cape Verdean professional basketball player for Benfica of the Liga Portuguesa de Basquetebol. Standing at 6 ft 6 in (1.98 m), he usually plays as small forward. Professional career In August 2017, Almeida signed with Anwil Włocławek of the Polish Basketball League (PLK). In September 2017 he won the Polish SuperCup with Anwil Włocławek, winning over Stelmet Zielona Góra, 92–88. He scored 23 points in his debut and was named the Most Valuable Player of the game.
