PJ Walters (rugby Union)
PJ Walters (born 23 April 1993) is a Namibian rugby union player who generally plays as a wing represents Namibia internationally and currently plays for Namibian club Welwitschias. He was included in the Namibian squad as the only uncapped player in the side for the 2019 Rugby World Cup which is held in Japan for the first time and also marks his first World Cup appearance. He made his international debut at the 2019 Rugby World Cup. Wing (rugby Union)
In the game of rugby union, there are 15 players on each team, comprising eight forwards (wearing jerseys numbered 1–8) and seven backs (numbered 9–15). In addition, there may be up to eight replacement players "on the bench", numbered 16–23. Players are not restricted to a single position, although they generally specialise in just one or two that suit their skills and body types. Players that play multiple positions are called "utility players". Forwards compete for the ball in scrums and Line-out (rugby union), line-outs and are generally bigger and stronger than the backs. Namibia At The Rugby World Cup
Namibia has competed in seven Rugby World Cup tournaments, having qualified as the African representative. The Namibian rugby union team, nicknamed the ''Welwitschias'' after the Namibian national symbol, made their first appearance at the Rugby World Cup in 1999 and appeared at the following six tournaments. Namibia has so far played 26 games at that cup without ever winning one. Namibia's best match result was in 2015 when they lost to Georgia by a single point. The Welwitschias, currently known as the Windhoek Draught Welwitschias due to sponsorship by Namibia Breweries Limited, are a Namibian rugby union team that often participates in South African domestic competitions. As of 2021, they are regular participants in the annual Rugby Challenge tournament, having previously played in the Currie Cup and Vodacom Cup. They are based in Windhoek and play their home matches in the Hage Geingob Rugby Stadium. The team mainly consists of players that play club rugby for teams in Namibia and is seen as a development team for the Namibia national team. 2019 Rugby World Cup Pool B
Pool B of the 2019 Rugby World Cup began on 21 September 2019. The pool included title holders New Zealand and third-placed team from 2015 South Africa, while Italy also joined the pool after finishing third in their pool in 2015. They were joined by the African qualifier, Namibia, and the repechage winner, Canada.
