PGA Assistant Professional Championship
The Assistant PGA Professional Championship is a golf tournament for golf club assistant professionals. It was called the PGA Assistant Championship until 2016 and has been held by the PGA of America since 1977. Rules for 2007 have the field made up of the assistant champions from each PGA section, section qualifiers, the defending champion and a representative from the PGA of Australia, The Professional Golfers' Association and the Canadian PGA. The 2015 Champion was Andy Mickelson. Tim Thelen
Tim Thelen (born June 14, 1961) is an American professional golfer. Thelen was born in Albany, Minnesota. He played college golf at Foothills Junior College and Houston Baptist University where he was a teammate of Colin Montgomerie. He worked as a club professional winning the PGA Club Professional Championship in 2000 and 2003 and the 2009 PGA Assistant Professional Championship. He played in nine PGA Championships but failed to make the cut in any of them. He won the 2001 PGA Professional Player of the Year award. After turning 50, Thelen won the European Senior Tour qualifying school in 2010. He finished 24th on the Tour's Order of Merit in 2011 and won his first Tour event at the 2012 Berenberg Bank Masters in Germany. Steve Gotsche
Steve Gotsche (born August 24, 1961) is an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour and the Nationwide Tour. Gotsche joined the PGA Tour in 1994, earning his Tour card through qualifying school. In his rookie year he recorded the best PGA Tour finish of his career, a fifth-place finish at the New England Classic. He didn't play well enough to retain his Tour card but earned his card through qualifying school for the second time. After an unsuccessful year on Tour, he joined the Nationwide Tour in 1996. He only played in three events from 1997 to 1998 but rejoined the Tour in 1999. That was his breakthrough year on Tour, winning the Nike Monterrey Open and the Nike Upstate Classic en route to a 15th-place finish on the money list, good enough for a PGA Tour card for 2000. Bill Loeffler
William R. Loeffler (born August 9, 1956) is an American professional golfer. Loeffler was born in Denver, Colorado. He played college golf at Arizona State University where he won twice and was an All-American in 1977. Loeffler played on the PGA Tour in 1980 and 1981. His best finish was T-32 at the 1981 Quad Cities Open. He quit professional golf and was reinstated as an amateur by the USGA. He subsequently won the 1986 U.S. Mid-Amateur title and was a member of the winning 1987 Walker Cup team. He turned professional a second time in 1989. Loeffler was disqualified in his first appearance at a U.S. Senior Open in 2013. Bruce Zabriski (born August 3, 1957) is an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour, European Tour and the Nationwide Tour. Zabriski joined the European Tour in 1985 and would play on the Tour until 1987. His best finish came at the Benson & Hedges International Open where he finished in a tie for 6th.
