PBA Hall Of Fame
The Philippine Basketball Association Hall of Fame is an institution that honors selected former players and personalities of the Philippine Basketball Association. It was launched on May 29, 2005, during the Reunion Game pitting two teams consisting of the 25 Greatest Players in PBA History. In 2005, it inducted its first 12 members to the group. The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) is a men's professional basketball league in the Philippines composed of twelve company-branded franchised teams. Founded in 1975, it is the first professional basketball league in Asia and is the second oldest continuously professional basketball league existing in the world after the National Basketball Association, NBA,Bartholomew, Rafe. Rudy Salud
Rodrigo Salud (March 13, 1938 – March 7, 2011) was the third commissioner of the Philippine Basketball Association from 1988 to 1992 and the founding secretary-general of the World Boxing Council. His son, Chito, was also a former commissioner of the PBA. PBA Commissioner He was appointed as the third commissioner of the Philippine Basketball Association after his predecessor, Col. The Philippines men's national basketball team ( fil, Pambansang koponan ng basketbol ng Pilipinas), commonly known as Gilas Pilipinas, is the basketball team representing the Philippines. The team is managed by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (Basketball Federation of the Philippines or simply SBP). Tanduay Rhum Masters
The Tanduay Rhum Makers (1975-1987) and Tanduay Rhum Masters (1999-2001) were two basketball franchises associated with the same liquor brand that played in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). The original franchise, owned by Elizalde & Co., Inc., was a founding member of the PBA. From 1975-1980, the team played under the name Tanduay Distillery; Tanduay ESQ and Tanduay Esquires; then as, YCO-Tanduay in 1981-1983. The final name used by the original franchise was the Tanduay Rhum Makers (1983-1987). The original franchise won a total of three PBA championships. In 1988, its PBA franchise was acquired by Pure Foods Corporation and played as Purefoods. The second franchise played under the name Tanduay Rhum Masters and was owned by Tanduay Distillers, Inc. Domingo Itchon
Domingo Yulo Itchon (1924–2004) was a Filipino business executive and best known as the second president of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Itchon played a key role in organizing the PBA, Asia's first professional basketball league. A '' cum laude'' from the University of the East (Business Administration), CPA board topnotcher and Harvard University graduate, he became the Elizalde Group of Companies' controller and was Don Manolo Elizalde's most trusted finance executive. In 1962, Itchon was appointed team manager of the Elizalde-owned YCO Painters in the Manila Industrial and Commercial Athletic Association (MICAA), serving for over 20 years. The Northern Cement basketball team (popularly known as, the NCC basketball team) refers to the team that represented the national basketball program and training pool for the Philippines men's national basketball team from 1980 to 1986. Ron Jacobs (basketball Coach)
Ronald Jacobs (December 27, 1942 – December 24, 2015) was an American basketball coach. Jacobs was head coach of the men's basketball team of Loyola Marymount University. After turning the program around in just one season, he was invited by Philippine businessman Eduardo Cojuangco, Jr. to coach the Philippines men's national basketball team. Jacobs brought the Philippines back to prominence in basketball during the 1980s. He revolutionized the way basketball was played in the Philippines. The San Miguel Beermen are a professional basketball team in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). It is one of three PBA clubs owned by the San Miguel Corporation group of companies along with the Magnolia Hotshots and Barangay Ginebra San Miguel. It is the most successful franchise in the history of the PBA and the only remaining original franchise in the league. Norman Augustus Black (born November 12, 1957) is an American former professional basketball player who played in the CBA, NBA, and PBA. He's the current head coach for the Meralco Bolts. Danny Florencio
Danilo Zoleta Florencio (September 5, 1947 – February 25, 2018) was a Filipino professional basketball player in the Philippine Basketball Association. He was known as "Daredevil Danny" and the original "Skywalker" in Philippine basketball. Collegiate/Amateur Career Florencio played for the UST Glowing Goldies from 1965–1967. After he left UST, joined the national team soon after, and became a member of the RP Team that finished second in the 1971 ABC Championships in Tokyo, which earned them a berth in the 1972 Munich Olympics. Manny Paner
Manuel Paner (born May 17, 1949), better known as Manny Paner, is a Filipino retired professional basketball player. Player profile Paner was born in Cebu City, Philippines. During his prime, he was known for his strong rebounding, defense and deadly hook shot. At a mere 6'2", he would play center and sometimes defend the opposing team's American imports. During the late 1960s and early 1970s, Paner played for the San Miguel Braves in the MICAA, along with other Cebuano cagers Rosalio Martirez and Alejandrito Miego, to a name of few. During the PBA's inaugural season in 1975, he was the center in the league's first Mythical Team, and in 1978, he left Royal Tru-Orange to sign with Great Taste what was then the league's biggest contract that paid him a whopping Php8,000 a month. Alberto "Abet" Guidaben (born September 14, 1952) is a Filipino former professional basketball player in the PBA. He was part of the fabled Crispa Redmanizers ballclub that won two Grand Slams, in 1976 and 1983. He was a two-time PBA Most Valuable Player awardee in and .
