P. S. Rung-Keller
Paul Sophus Christian Henrik Rung-Keller or P. S. Rung-Keller (11 March 1879 – 22 March 1966) was a Danish organist and composer. Biography He was the son of lawyer Emil Keller and operatic soprano Sophie Keller; grandson of composer Henrik Rung. He trained from 1907 at Hornemans Konservatorium operated by C. F. E. Horneman and at the Royal Danish Academy of Music from 1917. He was a student of organist Thomas Laub (1852–1927). He was employed as organist and cantor at the Church of Our Saviour (Danish: ''Vor Frelsers Kirke'') from 1903 to 1949. Sophie Keller
Sophie Helene Henriette Keller née Rung (1850–1929) was a Danish operatic soprano, musician and singing teacher, who performed at the Royal Danish Theatre in Copenhagen from 1869. She founded both a conservatory for women and a women's concert association. Biography Born in Copenhagen on 14 November 1850, Sophie Rung was the daughter of the composer Henrik Rung (1807–71) and the opera singer Frederikke Charlotte Pauline Lichtenstein (1818–90), generally known as Pauline Rung. Raised in a musical family, she learnt to play the guitar, piano and organ. When she was 13, her father, who was singing master at the Royal Theatre, gave her singing lessons. He later sent her to Italy where she was taught by Francesco Lamperti in Milan and Pietro Romani in Florence. In 1877, she married the lawyer Emil Charles Thorvald Keller. Their son, P. S. Henrik Rung
Henrik Rung (March 30, 1807 - December 12, 1871) was a Danish composer. Biography Henrik Rung was born in Copenhagen. Rung received training with the Royal Danish Orchestra in Copenhagen. He received a travel grant to study in Germany, Italy and Paris (1837-1840). In 1842, Rung became a singing master and held a lifelong position as a director of the opera at the Royal Danish Theatre. In 1841 he married the opera singer Pauline Lichtenstein. Royal Danish Academy Of Music
The Royal Danish Academy of Music, or Royal Danish Conservatory of Music ( da, Det Kongelige Danske Musikkonservatorium), in Copenhagen is the oldest professional institution of musical education in Denmark as well as the largest, with approximately 400 students. It was established in 1867 as ''Kjøbenhavns Musikkonservatorium'' by Niels Gade – who was also the first rector –, J.P.E. Hartmann and Holger Simon Paulli on the basis of a testamentary gift from the jeweler P.W. Moldenhauer, and with inspiration from the Leipzig Conservatory and a conservatory founded by Giuseppe Siboni in Copenhagen in 1827. Carl Nielsen was a teacher in the period 1916–1919 and the rector during the last year of his life. Church Of Our Saviour, Copenhagen
The Church of Our Saviour ( da, Vor Frelsers Kirke; ) is a baroque church in Copenhagen, Denmark, most famous for the external spiral winding staircase that can be climbed to the top, offering extensive views over central Copenhagen. It is also noted for its carillon, which is the largest in northern Europe and plays melodies every hour from 8 am to midnight. History When Christian IV planned Christianshavn in 1617, it was intended as an independent merchant's town on the island of Amager and it therefore needed a church. A temporary church was inaugurated in 1639 but construction of the present Church of Our Saviour, the design of Lambert van Haven, did not start until 1682. The church was inaugurated 14 years later in 1695 but important interior features like the altar had a notoriously temporary character and the tower still had no spire. Frederik Rung (June 14, 1854 - January 22, 1914) was a Danish conductor and composer. Biography He was the son of composer Henrik Rung (1807-1871). His sister Sophie Keller (1850–1929) was an opera singer at the Royal Danish Theatre. His son P. S. Rung-Keller (1879-1966) was also an organist and composer. He studied 1867-70 at the Royal Danish Academy of Music under Johan Peter Emilius Hartmann and Niels Gade. from 1881 to 1893, he was a piano teacher at the Conservatory of Music. In 1877, he became conductor of the special Madrigal choir at the Cecilia Association (''Caeciliaforening'') of Copenhagen.
