P.S. Higher Secondary School
P.S. Higher Secondary School(Main) is a government-aided school in Mylapore, Chennai. It follows the Tamil Nadu State Board Curriculum. The school offers education for students from the 6th grade till 12th grade. The primary school (grades 1-5) of this institution is located in North Mylapore. It offers groups such as commerce, biology and computer science for students of the 11th and 12th grade. History The school started in 1905 in three rented premises, Sarada Vilas and Krishna Vilas in the Mada Streets of Mylapore and a choultry in Ramakrishna Mutt Road. In 1928, it moved into its new buildings on Brodie's Road, set in 36 grounds P.S. Charities had acquired in 1919. Shortly after moving in, the trust leased 80 grounds adjoining the school from Kapaleeswarar Temple to serve as playgrounds. In 1978, the school became a higher secondary school. Mylapore
Mylapore, also spelt Mayilapur, is a neighbourhood in the central part of the city of Chennai, India. It is one of the oldest residential parts of the city. It is also called Tirumayilai. The locality is claimed to be the birthplace of the celebrated Tamil philosopher Valluvar, and the Hindu saint and philosopher, Peyalvar. Mylapore is known for its tree-lined avenues, Kapaleeshwarar Temple, Katcheri seasons, and Ramakrishna Matha among many others. Pennathur Subramania Iyer
Pennathur Subramania Iyer (1860–1901) was an Indian lawyer and philanthropist who is best known as the founder of the P. S. Charities. Early life Pennathur Subramania Iyer was born in Pennathur in Chittoor in the then North Arcot district of Madras Presidency. His father, P. Veeraraghava Iyer, had served as the Deputy Collector of Tinnevely. While studying at the Presidency College, Madras, Subramanya Iyer's father died and he had to discontinue his studies. Subramanya Iyer sought employment in service of the government and soon rose to become Sub-Registrar of Tadpatri in Bellary district by 1878. Career in law Following the advice of Sir S. Subramania Iyer, Subramanya Iyer studied law and enrolled as a solicitor. Politics Subramanya Iyer served as the Commissioner for Mylapore division in the Madras Corporation from 1890 to 1901. Saravanan Surya Mani or M. Saravanan, also known as AVM Saravanan or Meiyappa Saravanan, is an Indian producer of Tamil films. His production company is AVM Productions, which was founded in 1945 by his father, the famed director-producer A. V. Meiyappan, who is widely regarded as one of the pioneers of Tamil cinema. Sundaram Nainar Sundaram
Sundaram Nainar Sundaram (3 August 1932 – September 2001) was an Indian Judge and former Chief Justice of the Gujarat and Telangana High Court. Career Nainar Sundaram was born in 1932 in Tirunelveli. His father Herbert Sundaram was a District and Sessions Judge. He studied from Anderson High School of Kanchipuram and P.S. Higher Secondary School. He graduated from Loyola College, Chennai and obtained his law degree from Madras Law College. In 1955, Nainar Sundaram started practice in civil and criminal side in the Madras High Court.
