Overkill (term)
Overkill is the use of excessive force or action that goes further than what is necessary to achieve its goal. It may be a literal term referring to physical damage, though it is also used in colloquial conversation as a metaphor. An example is killing an ant with a sledgehammer. Overkill (Motörhead Album)
''Overkill'' is the second studio album by British rock band Motörhead, released in March 1979. It was the band's first album with Bronze Records. ''Kerrang!'' magazine listed the album at number 46 among the "100 Greatest Heavy Metal Albums of All Time". American thrash metal band Overkill was named after this album. Background Bronze Records signed Motörhead in 1978 and booked them time in London's Wessex Studios to record a single consisting of Richard Berry's "Louie Louie" and a new song by the band called "Tear Ya Down". The band toured to promote the single "Louie Louie", which became a modest hit, while Chiswick released the ''Motörhead'' album in white vinyl, to keep the momentum going. ''Eternal Champions'' is a 1993 fighting game developed and published by Sega for the Sega Genesis. It was one of the few fighting games of its time developed from the ground up as a home console title, rather than being released in arcades first and later ported to home systems. Sega released ''Eternal Champions'' in hopes of capitalizing on the fighting game mania that the game industry was in the midst of following the massive success of '' Street Fighter II'' (1991) and '' Mortal Kombat'' (1992). Overkill Software
Overkill Software is a Swedish video game developer based and founded in Stockholm in 2009 by Ulf Andersson, Bo Andersson, the founders and owners of defunct game developer Grin, along with Simon Viklund. In 2012, Swedish game studio Starbreeze Studios acquired Overkill. The company is known for their ''Payday'' series, consisting of Payday: The Heist, ''Payday 2, and Payday 3.'' History Brothers Bo and Ulf Andersson had founded Grin in 1997, which had some successful titles including ''Bionic Commando''. However, when a deal with Square Enix to make a ''Final Fantasy''-based game fell through, Grin went bankrupt and was shut down in 2009. The Anderssons launched Overkill Software that same year after Grin gets shut down due to bankruptcy, with their first project being '' Payday: The Heist'', released in 2011. Ulli Lommel (21 December 1944 – 2 December 2017) was a German actor and director, noted for his many collaborations with Rainer Werner Fassbinder and his association with the New German Cinema movement. Lommel spent time at The Factory and was a creative associate of Andy Warhol, with whom he made several films and works of art. He moved to the United States in 1977, where he wrote, directed and starred in over 50 films. Early life Born in Zielenzig in 1944, a few weeks before the arrival of the Red Army, Lommel's family fled the city, wrapping the infant Ulli in a roll of carpet. His father, Ludwig, was a popular radio personality. His mother was the actress Karla van Cleef. While living in Bad Nauheim as a teenager, Lommel performed with Elvis Presley. Holly Ffion Humberstone (born 17 December 1999) is an English singer-songwriter from Grantham, England. In 2021, she signed a recording contract with Interscope and Polydor Records. Her first EP following the signings, ''The Walls Are Way Too Thin'', was released on 12 November 2021. Humberstone won the Brit Award for Rising Star at the 2022 Brit Awards.
