Oulu Music Video Festival
Oulu Music Video Festival was founded in 1994 by students of the Oulu School of Arts and Crafts. The festival's back bone is the Finnish Music Video Contest. The best Finnish music video is awarded with The Golden Pumpeli Award and the most promising young director is awarded with the Teen Pumpeli Award. The best Post-Production and cinematography received their own category in 2015 and have been awarded the Lens Pumpeli Award and the Post Pumpeli Award ever since. The Finnish Music Foundation (MES) gives out an annual award at the festival to a person who has furthered the art of music videos. Music videos are screened at the Cultural Centre Valve. The world famous Air Guitar World Championships were first held in 1996 as part of the Oulu Music Video Festival. Oulu ( , ; sv, Uleåborg ) is a city, municipality and a seaside resort of about 210,000 inhabitants in the region of North Ostrobothnia, Finland. Mika Ronkainen
Mika Ronkainen (born 6 August 1970) is a Finnish film director and screenwriter from Oulu, Northern Finland. Ronkainen is the co-creator and director of successful crime drama '' All the Sins'' and he has also worked with documentary films and theatre. In June 2013 American magazine ''Variety'' selected Ronkainen as one of ten up-and-coming European directors to watch. Career Documentaries Ronkainen's international breakthrough film was '' Screaming Men (2003)'', a documentary film about a Finnish screaming male choir called Mieskuoro Huutajat, followed by '' Freetime Machos (2009)'', a documentary film about a rugby team which is allegedly the most northern and the third lousiest in the world. Haloo Helsinki! ( en, Hello, Helsinki!) is a pop rock band from Finland, founded in 2006. They have released five studio albums, all of which have reached the top ten on the Finnish Albums Chart. From 2007 to 2012, the band were signed to EMI Finland and as their principal collaborators switched to a Sony sub-label, Ratas Music Group, the band followed suit. CMX (band)
CMX, originally Cloaca Maxima, is a Finnish rock band. They originally played hardcore punk, but soon expanded to play a wide variety of rock formats, including progressive rock, heavy metal, and mainstream rock 'n' roll. Throughout their career, they have been influenced by progressive rock bands such as Rush, Yes, Tool and King Crimson. The progressive influence is most evident on their albums ''Dinosaurus Stereophonicus'' (2000) and ''Talvikuningas'' (2007). CMX have gradually gained large-scale mainstream following in Finland. SMC Lähiörotat
SMC Lähiörotat is a group of Finnish rap artists with their songs focusing in the underground life of Helsinki. Their debut album ' was released on June 15, 2011. It peaked at #2 on the Finnish Album Chart. SMC is known for their humorous skateboarding-themed songs and music videos and their extensive and innovative use of Helsinki slang . Mirel Wagner
Mirel Wagner (born 3 December 1987), is a Finnish singer-songwriter. She was born in Ethiopia and raised in Espoo, Finland. Career Wagner has been writing songs since the age of 16. Her self-titled debut album was released in February 2011 by the Finnish indie label Kioski. It was later released in United Kingdom and Europe by Bone Voyage Recordings and in North America by Friendly Fire Recordings. Von Hertzen Brothers is a Finnish rock group formed in 2000, by three brothers. Their music is a mix of classic rock and progressive elements, folk, punk and contemporary rock. Jussi Lehtisalo (born 1972) is a Finnish bassist. In 1991, he founded Circle, a prolific band drawing influences from heavy metal and krautrock to develop a style of repetitive experimental rock. Rättö ja Lehtisalo is an experimental rock-music band, featuring two members of the Finnish group Circle, Jussi Lehtisalo and Mika Rättö (who also performs with Kuusumun Profeetta). Misko Iho (born Mikko Iho; May 9, 1975, in Helsinki) is a Finnish film director. In the mid 1990s, he was part of the computer demo group, Future Crew, and later worked designing computer game graphics in the United States. Ville Juurikkala
Ville Akseli Juurikkala (born 6 March 1980) is a Finnish photographer and music video director. He is best known as a "rock photographer", having had a long working relationship with bands such as HIM, Nightwish and Apocalyptica.
