Otomar Kvěch
Otomar Kvěch (25 May 1950 – 16 March 2018) was a Czech music composer and teacher. Biography Kvěch was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia. His father was a sound engineer with Czechoslovak Radio, and later held technical jobs in various industrial companies. Kvěch's mother was shop-assistant. In 1955 he had his first lessons in piano. He prepared for three years for his entry exam to the Prague Conservatory, and graduated after studying composition with Jan Zdeněk Bartoš and organ with Joseph Kuban. After 1969 he studied composition at the Prague Academy of Performing Arts with Jiří Pauer and one semester with Emil Hlobil. After graduation he worked as an accompanist at the Opera National Theatre. In 1972 he married Miluška Wagnerová, a fellow-student from his organ class, and had daughters Eva (b. 1974) and Martina (b. 1977). Jaroslav Hašek
Jaroslav Hašek (; 1883–1923) was a Czech writer, humorist, satirist, journalist, bohemian and anarchist. He is best known for his novel '' The Fate of the Good Soldier Švejk during the World War'', an unfinished collection of farcical incidents about a soldier in World War I and a satire on the ineptitude of authority figures. The novel has been translated into about 60 languages, making it the most translated novel in Czech literature. Life Jaroslav Hašek's paternal ancestors were farmers rooted in Mydlovary in South Bohemia. Hašek's grandfather from his father's side, František Hašek, was a member of the Czech Landtag and later also the so-called Kromeriz convention. Dvůr Králové nad Labem (, german: Königinhof an der Elbe) is a town in Trutnov District in the Hradec Králové Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 15,000 inhabitants. It lies in the Elbe river valley. Dvůr Králové nad Labem is known for the Safari Park Dvůr Králové, one of the largest zoos in the country. The town centre is well preserved and is protected by law as an urban monument zone. Václav Fischer
Václav Fischer (born 22 June 1954) is a Czech-German businessman and politician. He founded CK Fischer and Fischer Air. He attended the Prague University of Economics and Business. After graduating from Internal Commerce Studies, Fischer moved to Switzerland for a short time, then he based in Berlin (then West Germany) and Hamburg, where he worked for some travel agencies and a shipping company. In 1980 Fischer founded in Germany his own travel agency called Fischer Reisen. Due to his success, after the Velvet Revolution that ended the Czechoslovak communist dictatorship, Fischer decided to return to Czechoslovakia to establish the subsidiaries of his companies in the country, as well as to expand to other Central European countries, such as Hungary, Slovakia and Poland. Jan Nepomuk Neruda (Czech: jan ˈnɛpomuk ˈnɛruda 9 July 1834 – 22 August 1891) was a Czech journalist, writer, poet and art critic; one of the most prominent representatives of Czech Realism and a member of the "May School". Early life Jan Neruda was born in Prague, Bohemia; son of a small grocer who lived in the Malá Strana district. Tomáš Janovic
Tomáš Janovic (22 May 1937 – 14 December 2023) was a Slovak writer, songwriter, journalist and poet. He was best known as an aphorist. Biography Tomáš Janovic was born on 22 May 1937 in Bratislava in a nonobservant Jewish family. His father was a government official. During the World War II, the family faced persecution because of their Jewish heritage and had to hide in a hut in the woods close to the village of Čierny Balog. Janovic was educated at a grammar school in Košice and studied Slovak language and history at the Comenius University. After his graduation in 1960 he joined the editorial team of the satirical weekly ''Roháč'', where he remained until 1991. From then until his death, he was an independent writer, contributing typically short aphorisms to various newspapers and magazines.
