Oswaldo Moncayo
Oswaldo Moncayo (September 10, 1923 – April 4, 1984) was an Ecuadorian painter. Moncayo (O. Moncayo) was born in Riobamba, Ecuador. As a child he moved to Quito, the capital of Ecuador, where he learned the art of oil painting. He started to paint as a child, and became a master when he was an adolescent. Moncayo's artwork is realistic and it is distinguished by the harmony of elements and colors, and by the perfection of its minuscule details. Ecuadorian landscapes and seascapes were the paintings’ main themes. In minor scale, the artist also painted other themes such as horses, still lifes, and colonial scenes. His paintings capture customs, flora, fauna, and scenery that have been changing through time and modernity. In addition to their beauty and artistic value, O. Riobamba
Riobamba (, full name San Pedro de Riobamba; Quechua: ''Rispampa'') is the capital of Chimborazo Province in central Ecuador, and is located in the Chambo River Valley of the Andes. Oil Painting
Oil painting is the process of painting with pigments with a medium of drying oil as the binder. It has been the most common technique for artistic painting on wood panel or canvas for several centuries, spreading from Europe to the rest of the world.
