Croatia selected its entry for the 2000 Eurovision Song Contest through the "Dora 2000" national contest, which was organised by the Croatian national broadcaster Hrvatska radiotelevizija (HRT). The winner was Goran Karan with "Kad zaspu anđeli". Before Eurovision Dora 2000 The national contest was held on 19 February 2000 in Opatija, which consisted of a televised final with 26 songs. The songs were pre-selected from a public call for submissions from songwriters and composers. The winner was decided by 21 juries, 20 regional juries and a 21st jury made up of televoting results. At Eurovision On the night of the Contest, Goran Karan performed 17th in the running order, following Switzerland and preceding Sweden. At the end of the voting, he received 70 points, finishing in 9th place out of 24 competing countries. The Croatian televoting awarded its 12 points to Russia. Goran Karan
Goran Karan (born 2 April 1964) is a Croatian vocalist. He specializes in songs influenced by Dalmatian folk music and is known for his powerful and refined tenor voice. Karan's collaboration with composer Zdenko Runjić led to some of his most acclaimed work, which won him several awards. Biography Karan was the lead singer of Croatian rock group Big Blue, before becoming a solo artist in 1997. In 2000 he represented Croatia at Eurovision Song Contest, after winning the Croatian pre-selection Dora. In the Eurovision Song Contest, he ended up in the ninth place with his song " Ostani" ("Stay"). In 2005 he was one of the judges in ''Hrvatski idol'', Croatian version of Pop Idol. Magazin is a Croatian pop band from Split. Founded in 1979 under the name Dalmatinski magazin ("Dalmatian Magazine" in Croatian), the band quickly began to make a mark on local pop music festivals with its songs influenced by Dalmatian folk music. The band currently consists of lead vocalist Andrea Šušnjara, guitarist Željko Baričić and bass guitarist Nenad Vesanović Keko. Marko Tomasović (born 18 May 1976) is a Croatian composer and songwriter. He composed and wrote more than 300 songs. His work has covered various genres. Marko is a member of Croatian Composers' Society, and he was listed as one of the 10 most performed authors in Croatia in 2004. Milana Vlaović (; born 1971 in Metković) is a Croatian journalist, composer, writer and columnist. Journalistic career She had finished her elementary school as well as high school in Metković, and as she turned 18, she started to study at the Faculty of Law in Zagreb. Vesna Pisarović (born 9 April 1978) is a Croatian pop and jazz singer. Life and career 1978–1999: Early life Pisarović was born in Brčko, SR Bosnia and Herzegovina, SFR Yugoslavia and grew up in Požega, SR Croatia, a part of the same country until she was 13. Bruno Kovačić is a Croatian musician and composer. Biography His career began in the 1980s when he formed the band called D-Day. Afterwards he worked with all the important musicians and singers in and around Croatia as a musician, composer or an arranger. By late 80'a he entered Parni valjak as a guitarist and saxophone player, then performed with Gibonni, Hard Time and Fanny Hill, and he recorded his album "Just Like All Other People" in 2001. Ivana Ranilović-Vrdoljak (born 1 September 1970 in Koprivnica, Croatia, SFR Yugoslavia), better known by her stage name Vanna, is a Croatian pop singer. Biography As a child, Vanna won prizes in various national children and youth festivals. Her debut was at the 1990 Zagrebfest, a music festival held in Zagreb. In that year she left her hometown to live and study in Zagreb and whilst studying, she performed in a band called BOA singing back vocals. In 1992 her professional career as a singer was launched. Severina Vučković (born 21 April 1972), better known mononymously as Severina, is a Croatian singer-songwriter and actress. Zdenko Runjić
Zdenko Runjić (26 October 1942 – 27 October 2004) was a Croatian songwriter. In his long career, he established himself as one of the most prolific and most popular songwriters of former Yugoslavia and Croatia. Biography Runjić was born on 26 October 1942 in the village of Garčin near Slavonski Brod. Many of his songs were inspired by the folk traditions of Dalmatia. The songs became classics and Runjić helped the careers of many notable Croatian musicians such as Oliver Dragojević, Doris Dragović and Meri Cetinić. Tonči Huljić (; born 29 October 1961) is a Croatian musician, songwriter and music producer. He is best known as the founding member, songwriter and producer of one the most famous Croatian pop bands, Magazin.
