Oscar De Wahl
Oscar de Wahl (7 August 1832 – 29 April 1873) was a Swedish composer and arranger. Biography De Wahl was born on 7 August 1832 in Skoklosters socken in the Swedish Uppland. Oscar de Wahl's father Johan de Wahl was a clockmaker, organist and schoolteacher in Skokloster and has been pointed out as the role model for the clockmaker who travels to Stockholm in August Strindberg's poem ''Stadsresan''. De Wahl studied at the Royal Swedish Academy of Music and graduated as music director in 1854. Until 1858 he worked in Stockholm as a piano teacher, and then he was engaged as orchestra leader at the Södra Teatern in Stockholm. In the autumn of 1871 he moved to the Minor Theater, and was active there until his death. He has composed music for several cuplés and arranged the music for various plays. Uppland
Uppland () is a historical province or ' on the eastern coast of Sweden, just north of Stockholm, the capital. It borders Södermanland, Västmanland and Gästrikland. Royal Swedish Academy Of Music
The Royal Swedish Academy of Music ( sv, Kungliga Musikaliska Akademien), founded in 1771 by King Gustav III, is one of the Royal Academies in Sweden. At the time of its foundation, only one of its co-founder was a professional musician, Ferdinand Zellbell the Younger. The Academy is an independent organization, which acts to promote the artistic, scientific, educational and cultural development of music. Fredrik Wetterqvist is director of the Academy. The Academy consists of 170 Swedish members belonging to various spheres of the music industry and has a research committee which has been operational since 1980s. Södra Teatern
Södra Teatern is a theatre in Stockholm, Sweden. It is located at Mosebacke torg on Södermalm in Stockholm. The venue is the oldest theatre in Stockholm and is situated in the heart of the city. History Södra Teatern is one of Sweden's oldest active theaters. The current theater was designed by architect Johan Fredrik Åbom (1817-1900) and was inaugurated in 1859. It has two restaurants, outdoor terraces and seven stages. The building also consists of five bars and the Mosebacke Etablissement restaurant. Stora Scen is the main stage. Cuplé
The cuplé was a popular risqué Spanish theatre song style in the late years of the 19th century. From 1893–1911 the songs were a feature of the "género Ãnfimo" (lowest type) cabaret theatre sung by solo female singers, or men in drag, and attended mainly by men. But in the second decade of the 20th century the cuplé, in a more respectable form, became more family-friendly and was associated with the makings of stars of the Spanish theatre such as Aurora Jauffret, "La Goya".Bradley S. Anna De Wahl
Anna de Wahl, née ''Lundström'' (25 May 1844 – 18 May 1889) was a Swedish actress and singer. Biography She was born in Roslagen, in the Swedish Uppland. De Wahl was born out of wedlock to the sea captain and lighthouse keeper of Singö Ebbe Jansson and Anna Ersdotter Frimodig, and grew up as a foster daughter with her uncle Anders Ersson Lundström, church caretaker at Adolf Fredrik Church in Stockholm. When she was eleven years old she came to Selinderska student theater where she remained until 1866. After that she was involved, from 1866 to 1872, at Södra teatern and played the years 1872-1884 alternately at Mindre, Södra and Nya teatern in Stockholm and at Nya Theatern in Gothenburg. The following year she performed at the Swedish Theatre in Helsinki and from 1886 to 1887 she was at the Vasateatern in Stockholm. In 1867 she married music director Oscar de Wahl.
