Rugby School is a public school (English independent boarding school for pupils aged 13–18) in Rugby, Warwickshire, England. Robert Herbert
Sir Robert George Wyndham Herbert, (12 June 1831 – 6 May 1905), was the first Premier of Queensland, Australia. At 28 years and 181 days of age, he was the youngest person ever to be elected premier of an Australian state. Early years Born in Brighton, England, on 12 June 1831, Herbert was the only son of the Hon. Algernon Herbert, a younger son of the first Earl of Carnarvon. He was educated at Eton and Balliol College, Oxford. He won a Balliol scholarship in 1849 and, subsequently, the Hertford and Ireland scholarships. He took a first-class in Classical Moderations, won the Latin verse prize in 1852, and obtained second-class final honours in the classical school. Madehurst is a small village and civil parish in the Arun District of West Sussex, England on the south slopes of the South Downs in the South Downs National Park. Augustus Downs Station
Augustus Downs Station is a pastoral lease that operates as a cattle station in the Gulf Country of outback Queensland. It is situated south of Burketown and south west of Normanton. The Leichhardt River and numerous tributaries flow through the property. Oscar John de Satgé acquired the property in around 1881 along with Carandotta Station after selling Coreena Station for £70,000. In 1901 the property shared a boundary with Lorraine Station, although it was not fenced and cattle from both properties grazed in each other's pastures. Sidney Kidman was a director of the Augustus Downs Pastoral Company until 1935. William Charles Angliss was also a director in the company. Queensland Legislative Council
The Queensland Legislative Council was the upper house of the parliament in the Australian state of Queensland. It was a fully nominated body which first took office on 1 May 1860. It was abolished by the Constitution Amendment Act 1921, which took effect on 23 March 1922. Consequently, the Legislative Assembly of Queensland is the only unicameral state Parliament in Australia. Two territories, the Northern Territory and Australian Capital Territory, also maintain unicameral parliaments. Most of the early members of the Council came from wealthy families, were well educated and were born in England. Charles James Graham was a politician in Queensland, Australia. He was a Member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Graham represented the electorate of Clermont from 11 May 1872 to 4 January 1876. Early life Charles James Graham was born on 7 October 1839 in Hinxton, Cambridgeshire, England. He was educated at Uppingham and Peterhouse, graduating with a BA in 1862 before moving to Australia where he was a squatter. Family He married Mary Joseph Enright on 21 September 1871, and they had three children. Politics Graham was the Secretary for Public Lands from 15 July 1873 to 8 January 1874. Later life After resigning from Parliament he was appointed Under Secretary for Public Instruction. The ''Peak Downs Telegram'' (later the ''Clermont Telegram'') was a newspaper published in Clermont, Queensland, Australia. History The ''Peak Downs Telegram'' was started by Charles Hardie Buzacott and E. J. Fried on 2 August 1864. Buzacott, however, disposed of his interests in the journal and moved to Gladstone to start the ''Gladstone Observer'' in 1869. The last issue of the ''Peak Downs Telegram'' appeared on 18 December 1943. The ''Clermont Telegram'' commenced on 10 March 1950 and continued until 6 May 1981.
