Opera Siam
Opera Siam, formerly Bangkok Opera, is an opera company in Bangkok, Thailand. It presents an international opera repertoire, together with home-grown favorites.Fodor's Bangkok 25 Best', p. 90 (2015). The company was founded in 2001, as a production company to mount ''Madana'', the first full-length grand opera by Thai composer S. P. Somtow under the Royal Patronage of H.R.H. Princess Galyani Vadhana. This production featured in the title role the American soprano Stacey Tappan. In 2002, with Somtow as artistic director, the Bangkok Opera began a series of productions, the first being Purcell's '' Dido and Aeneas''. The series then moved onto larger-scale works such as ''Mae Naak'', '' The Magic Flute'', and '' Turandot''. At the end of 2005 the Bangkok Opera declared its first "complete" season and also started a five-year project to perform the complete Wagner's ''Ring Cycle''. Das Rheingold
''Das Rheingold'' (; ''The Rhinegold''), WWV 86A, is the first of the four music dramas that constitute Richard Wagner's ''Der Ring des Nibelungen'' (English: ''The Ring of the Nibelung''). It was performed, as a single opera, at the National Theatre Munich on 22 September 1869, and received its first performance as part of the ''Ring'' cycle at the Bayreuth Festspielhaus, on 13 August 1876. Wagner wrote the ''Ring'' librettos in reverse order, so that ''Das Rheingold'' was the last of the texts to be written; it was, however, the first to be set to music. The score was completed in 1854, but Wagner was unwilling to sanction its performance until the whole cycle was complete; he worked intermittently on this music until 1874. (''The Ring of the Nibelung''), WWV 86, is a cycle of four German-language epic music dramas composed by Richard Wagner. The works are based loosely on characters from Germanic heroic legend, namely Norse legendary sagas and the '' Nibelungenlied''. The composer termed the cycle a "Bühnenfestspiel" (stage festival play), structured in three days preceded by a ("preliminary evening"). It is often referred to as the ''Ring'' cycle, Wagner's ''Ring'', or simply ''The Ring''. Wagner wrote the libretto and music over the course of about twenty-six years, from 1848 to 1874. The music of Thailand reflects its geographic position at the intersection of China and India, and reflects trade routes that have historically included Africa, Greece and Rome. Sirikit
Queen Sirikit ( th, สิริกิติ์; ; ); born ''Mom Rajawongse'' Sirikit Kitiyakara ( th, สิริกิติ์ กิติยากร; ; 12 August 1932) is the queen mother of Thailand. She was List of Thai royal consorts, Queen of Thailand as the wife of Bhumibol Adulyadej (or Rama (King of Thailand), King Rama IX) and is the mother of the current King Vajiralongkorn (or King Rama X). She met Bhumibol in Paris, where her father was Thai ambassador. They married in 1950, shortly before Bhumibol's coronation. Sirikit was appointed Regent of Thailand, queen regent in 1956, when the king entered the Buddhist monkhood for a period of time. Sirikit has one son and three daughters with the king. Consort of the monarch who was the Current reigning monarchs by length of reign, world's longest-reigning head of state, she was also the world's longest-serving queen consort. Trisdee Na Patalung
Trisdee na Patalung ( th, ทฤษฎี ณ พัทลุง; ; born 9 March 1986) is a Thai composer and conductor. He is the Music Director of the Bangkok Baroque Ensemble and the Resident Conductor of the Orpheus Choir of Bangkok. Na Patalung began studying music at the age of 13. At the age of 15, he stopped his formal education when he met Somtow Sucharitkul, who became his teacher and mentor. At the same time, he began working for the Bangkok Opera as a repetiteur and an assistant conductor. Na Patalung made his operatic conducting debut in 2006 in a performance of Mozart's ''The Magic Flute''. He has written two symphonies that he also conducted with the Siam Philharmonic Orchestra. He has worked regularly with the Opera Studio Nederland since 2005 and became a permanent member in 2006. The Thailand Cultural Centre (Thai alphabet, Thai; ศูนย์วัฒนธรรมแห่งประเทศไทย) is a performing arts venue in Huai Khwang district, Bangkok, Thailand.
