Onyang-dong
Onyang-dong, actually a series of six ''dong'', is the central and most populous part of the city of Asan in Chungcheongnam-do, South Korea. It is here that Asan City Hall is located. Geography Onyang-dong lies in the centre of Asan, 10 km south-west of Cheonan. It is bordered by Yeomchi-eup to the north, Sinchang-myeon to the west, Baebang-myeon to the south-east and Tangjeong-myeon to the north-east. Onyang-dong's northern border is the Gokgyo-cheon, a stream which flows west to join the Samgyo-cheon before emptying into Asan Bay, while Sinjeong-ho, a small reservoir, lies to the south-west. Demographics 50.2% of the population are male and 49.8% female, with only 0.75% of the population being foreign. There are 35086 registered residences, making the average household consist of 2.7 people and the population density is 2094 people per square kilometre, the total area of the six ''dong'' being 44.6 km2. Asan
Asan () is a city in South Chungcheong Province, South Korea. It borders the Seoul Capital Area to the north. Asan has a population of approximately 300,000. Asan is known for its many hot springs and is a city of spas. Asan has grown into the neighboring village, Onyang-dong, which is also known for its hot springs. Climate Transportation The city of Asan shares a station for the KTX high speed trains with the directly adjacent city of Cheonan, which is thusly named Cheonan-Asan Station. It takes about 30 minutes to travel from Asan to Seoul by the KTX train. It can be reached within 2 hours from Incheon International Airport by car. Seoul Metropolitan Subway Line 1 of the Seoul Metropolitan Subway is a rapid transit and commuter rail line which links central Seoul, South Korea to Soyosan Station in the northeast, Incheon in the southwest, and Sinchang (Soonchunhyang Univ.) via Suwon and Cheonan in the south. The central underground portion of this rail line is the oldest subway section in the Seoul Metropolitan Subway system. Iksan Station
Iksan station is on South Korea's high-speed KTX railway network, 243 km south of Yongsan station. History The station opened on January 1, 1915, and KTX trains on the Honam Line began services on April 1, 2004. The most notable incident to occur at this station was an explosion that occurred at 9:15 p.m. on November 11, 1977. The explosion occurred as dynamite being transported from Incheon to Gwangju caught alight. The station was then known as "Iri station" (이리역), ''Iri'' being Iksan's former name. Services Iksan station serves KTX trains on the Honam high-speed railway and the normal speed Honam Line. It also has express services and local services on the normal speed Honam Line. Cheonan Station is the main train station in central Cheonan, South Korea, and the junction of the Gyeongbu and Janghang Lines. It has also been served by Seoul Subway Line 1 since 2005. Janghang Line
The Janghang Line is a railway line serving South Chungcheong Province in South Korea. The line connects Cheonan (on the Gyeongbu Line) to the railway junction city of Iksan. The Janghang Line is served by frequent Saemaeul-ho and Mugunghwa-ho passenger train services between Seoul and Iksan. There is also a link from Asan station to the KTX network at Cheonan-Asan station. History The original Janghang Line was opened along its full length between Cheonan and Janghang by the Chosen Gyeongnam Railway on June 1, 1922. Upgrade The entire Janghang Line is being electrified and double-tracked and upgraded for higher speeds with a straighter alignment. Work started in 1997 from Cheonan. Cheonan (; 천안시, ''Cheonan-si''), also spelled Ch'ŏnan, is a city in South Chungcheong, South Korea. Cheonan has a population of 666,417 (2018), making it the most-populous city or county in South Chungcheong, and the third most-populous city in the Hoseo region after Daejeon and Cheongju.
