The Onset
The Onset were formed in 1987 by Mike Badger after he left his former band The La's. Badger teamed up with locals Danny Dean on guitar, Hamish Cameron on piano and Colin Becket on drums. The first demo "Let's Go Home" can be found on the 2006 compilation CD, '' Lo Fi Electric Excursions by Mike Badger & Friends''. History Their sound was heavily influenced by American bluegrass and country music merged with a dose of punky rock 'n' roll. On hearing the demo Geoff Davies of Liverpool's independent record label Probe Plus Records arranged for the band to record their first LP '' The Pool Of Life'' (Probe 19). ''The Pool Of Life'' was recorded at Ameritz Studios in Birkenhead during May 1988. Ten musicians contributed to the LP, but by the time of its release, the Onset's lineup had stabilised to just five. Onset, Massachusetts
Onset is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Wareham, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 1,573 at the 2010 census. Geography Onset is located at (41.746424, -70.663251). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 3.4 km (1.3 mi), of which 2.8 km (1.1 mi) is land and 0.6 km (0.2 mi) (16.92%) is water. Demographics At the 2000 census there were 1,292 people, 568 households, and 323 families in the CDP. The population density was 461.9/km (1,192.7/mi). There were 910 housing units at an average density of 325.3/km (840.1/mi). The racial makeup of the CDP was 74.46% African American, 7.74% White, 0.23% Native American, 1.24% Asian, 13.08% from other races, and 3.25% from two or more races. Onset refers to the beginning of a musical note or other sound. It is related to (but different from) the concept of a transient: all musical notes have an onset, but do not necessarily include an initial transient. Syllable Onset
A syllable is a unit of organization for a sequence of speech sounds typically made up of a syllable nucleus (most often a vowel) with optional initial and final margins (typically, consonants). Syllables are often considered the phonological "building blocks" of words. They can influence the rhythm of a language, its prosody, its poetic metre and its stress patterns. Speech can usually be divided up into a whole number of syllables: for example, the word ''ignite'' is made of two syllables: ''ig'' and ''nite''. Onset Island (Massachusetts)
Onset Island is a small, private association owned island located at the western end of the Cape Cod Canal in the Town of Wareham, near Onset, Massachusetts. No part of this private island is accessible to the general public without prior permission from a homeowner. One must be a homeowner, a guest of a homeowner, or someone who has rented a cottage from a homeowner to visit the island. Onset Island is only accessible via a small number of registered private boats owned by the island's homeowners. Use of the island's private docks is limited to those who have paid the relevant association fees, or by private agreement. Approximately fifty families have homes on the island. Haiku Hands are an alternative dance electronic music group from Sydney and Melbourne, Australia. The group consists of Claire Nakazawa, Beatrice Lewis, Mie Nakazawa, and performing member Mataya Young. The Nakazawa sisters are from Sydney and Lewis is from Melbourne. Touring The group toured nationally with Groovin The Moo and Listen Out (festival). Interonset Interval
In music a time point or ''timepoint'' (point in time) is "an instant, analogous to a geometrical point in space". Because it has no duration, it literally cannot be heard, but it may be used to represent "the point of initiation of a single pitch, the repetition of a pitch, or a pitch simultaneity", therefore the beginning of a sound, rather than its duration.
