The Oman Football Association ( ar, الاتحاد العُماني لكرة القدم) is the governing body of football in Oman. It was founded in 1978, has been a member of the Asian Football Confederation and of FIFA since 1980. History The first football club of the Sultanate (documented as such) was the Maqboul Club, founded in 1942, known today as the Oman Club. In the 1970s, Qaboos bin Said al Said favored the development of sports events and associations, which led in 1978 to the creation of the Omani Football Association with Sayyid / Haitham bin Tariq Al Said (Minister of National Heritage and Culture and in 2020, the successor to Qaboos as Sultan) as its first president. In its first year of operations, the Association became a member of the Union of Arab Football Associations and of the FIFA, and then joined the Asian Football Federation in 1980. Slobodan Pavković
Slobodan Pavković (, ; born 24 October 1955) is a Serbian former football manager and player. Club career Born in Novi Sad, Pavković started out at his hometown club Vojvodina, making his Yugoslav First League debut in 1974. He helped the team win the 1976–77 Mitropa Cup. In 1978, Pavković was signed by Partizan, spending the next five seasons with the Belgrade club. He made two appearances in the title-winning 1982–83 season. After a brief spell at Galenika Zemun in the Yugoslav Second League, Pavković moved abroad to Sweden and joined Degerfors IF. International career At international level, Pavković played for the Yugoslavia under-18s at the 1974 UEFA European Under-18 Championship, where they lost 1–0 in the final to Bulgaria. The 19th Arabian Gulf Cup ( ar, كأس الخليج العربي) was the nineteenth edition of the biannual Gulf Cup competition, and took place in Muscat, Oman, Muscat, Oman, from 4 to 17 January 2009 and was won by Oman national football team, Oman for the first time in its history, in a penalty shootout against regional rivals, Saudi Arabia national football team, Saudi Arabia. 18th Arabian Gulf Cup
The 18th Arabian Gulf Cup ( ar, was the كأس الخليج العربي) 18th edition of the Arabian Gulf Cup. It took place in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates from 17 to 30 January 2007. The tournament was won by hosts UAE, who beat neighbors Oman 1–0 in the final, courtesy of a goal by Ismail Matar who finished the tournament as top scorer with five goals in all. The UAE became the fifth country to lift the title after Kuwait, Iraq, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. In the competition there was also some very serious disciplinary problems with a total of 38 yellow cards and 7 red cards awarded in only 12 matches. As in previous Gulf Cups there have also been bad refereeing calls. 17th Arabian Gulf Cup
The 17th Arabian Gulf Cup ( ar, كأس الخليج العربي) was held in Doha, Qatar in 2004. It marked the return of the Iraqi National team back to the competition, following the fall of Saddam Hussein. Qatar turned out the victors and Oman came in runners up in a close match that ended in a penalty kick shootout. Imad Ali Suleiman Al-Hosni ( ar, عماد علي سليمان الحوسني; born 18 July 1984), commonly known as Imad Al-Hosni or Al-Amda, is an Omani footballer who last played for Fanja SC in the Oman Professional League. The FIFA U-17 World Championship 1995, the sixth edition of the tournament, was held in the cities of Guayaquil, Portoviejo, Quito, Ibarra, Ecuador, Ibarra, Cuenca, Ecuador, Cuenca, and Riobamba in Ecuador between 3 and 20 August 1995.
